Rosie and I headed over to Best Buy to try out the latest Skylanders game – Skylanders: Giants.

It begins…
“Thousands of years ago, the Giants fought epic battles in Skylands, but they have long since been banished to Earth. Â Now, the evil Portal Master Kaos is back and the Giants must join forces with the Skylanders to battle a new threat. Â It’s up to you to put them on the Portal of Power and unleash their strength. Â Are you ready for the ultimate battle to save Skylands?”
Skylanders: Â Giants is a sequel to the 2011 original game. Â Similar to the original, there are toy figures that can be purchased to enhance game play. Â In Giants, the figures are bigger and connect to the game through the Portal of Power. Â At Best Buy, there were four figures that we could place on the Portal of Power and then play with in the demo of the game. Â Rosie loved Tree Rex – a giant living/moving tree that pounded evil and everything that got in his way.
The Skylanders: Giants Starter Pack for PlayStation 3 from Best Buy includes Skylanders Giants video game, Portal of Power, three Skylanders figures, a character collector poster, three sticker sheets with secret codes and three trading cards.  If you already have the original Skylanders with the Portal, you can buy the Portal Owner’s Pack which includes video game, Skylanders figure, character collection poster, sticker sheet with secret code and trading card.
Favorite thing about the game?  How easy it was to change characters by placing them on the Portal.  It’s really a buzz kill in a game when you have to go “home”, exit, wait, wait, reload a new something or other, wait, login, reload, blah, blah, blah, blah.  It is fun to just switch the figures.
Everyone loves to collect – the figures are a fun tie in to the game. Â My favorite is “Chill” – love the power girls!
Bottom line? Â Fun game – with endless possibilities to expand. Â Great for gift giving, you have openings for the next holiday, birthday, etc!
