It was a great summer for us – we spent most of the daylight hours outside. Â Now that the cold windy days are here, I’m worried about the changes because we are no longer getting exposure to sunlight.
Last year at the International Home and Housewares show, I was introduced to a product called “Happy Light Energy Lamp” from Verilux. Â In the short time I spent talking to their reps about it, I felt like I could feel the energizing effects! Â Because of the time of year, I didn’t have a chance to try the lamp until now.
I pulled the lamp out of the box this morning. Â My energy levels are so roller coaster – one day I feel great, the next I’m wiped out by the smallest thing. Â I’m looking forward to having the Balanced Natural Spectrum Daylight help me even out those ups and downs.
Seasonal Affective Disorder is real http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder Initially, the disorder was viewed with skepticism but it is now an accepted diagnosis.  These are the symptoms of SAD:
- difficulty waking up in the morning
- morning sickness
- tendency to oversleep and over eat, especially a craving for carbohydrates
- weight gain
- lack of energy
- difficulty concentrating on or completing tasks
- withdrawal from friends, family, and social activities
- decreased sex drive.
Over 80% of people with low energy, fatigue or the Winter blues may expect to benefit from light therapy. Â Although it varies from person to person, most feel the effects of light therapy within 2-4 days.” – Dr. Norman Rosenthal, M.D., Author of “Winter Blues”
The Verilux “Happy Light Energy Lamp 4500” provides up to 4,500 LUX of Natural Spectrum Daylight.  With a minimum of 30 minutes to 1 hour exposure to the light you can help your body recalibrate and stabilize, reduce fatigue and improve focus and concentration.
Verilux has a wide assortment of products from as low as $35. Â I’m intrigued by the Rise and Shine Natural Sleep System, where you wake up to a natural progression of brighter light and morning sounds. Â I feel peaceful just thinking about it!
If you are experiencing any of the symptoms above and they began when the weather changed,
IÂ highly recommend trying a Verilux light!
Disclosure of Material Connection: Â I was sent a Happy Light to review.
