ABOUT THE BOOK:

Kit Kenyon is a Police Detective newly assigned to her partner Noah Lambert.  Noah appears to have something against women officers and they have a rocky start to their partnership.  They are thrown together in the investigation of a strange murder and then a second murder is linked and they find themselves hunting a dangerous serial killer.  When the killer turns the hunter into the prey and begins to stalk Kit, it gets a little too personal.

As Police partners, Kit and Noah slowly get to know each other and end up discovering they have more in common than they ever imagined.  Both have anything but “normal” family histories.  Will these partners end up being able to overcome their pasts and learn to work together?  Will they find the killer before he reaches Kit?

You’ll have to read this Revell Books thriller, to find out!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Lynette Eason calls North Caroline home, where she lives with her husband and two children.  Some of Lynette’s favorite authors (and mine!) who influenced her writing include, Brandilyn Collins, Dee Henderson, Shirlee McCoy, Karen Kingsbury, Robert Liparulo, Terri Blackstock and Deborah Raney.
A best-selling author, Lynette Eason has written nineteen novels including Too Close to Home, which was #13 on CBA’s bestseller list for December, 2010.  She is a member of ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) and RWA (Romance Writers of America).
MY TAKE ON THE BOOK:

This is the third book in a series, called the Women of Justice series.  You don’t have to read the first two to enjoy this one.  I love good suspense, and this book had me on the edge of my seat, quickly flipping pages!  I read it while my mom was in surgery for a knee replacement and it truly made the time fly by.
Dee Henderson and Terri Blackstock are two of my favorite authors and I was not surprised to read that they influenced the writing of Lynette Eason.  There was a similar skill in developing the characters – to the extent that you feel like you know them – and developing the storyline at the same time.  It takes a skillful writer to be able to maintain the drama and suspense of a serial killer thriller while simultaneously letting us learn about the history and personalities of the detectives.  Lynette Eason is such a writer.  And then, she throws romance into the mix!
It’s a fine line, to be able to write about serial murders and communicate the horrendous side of the murders and murderer while not making the story too difficult to read.  Before I found Christian fiction, I read many serial killer books that I found haunting.  The detail was sometimes too vivid.  In A Killer Among Us, Lynette Eason did an excellent job of description without unnecessary gore.
There’s also an interesting back-story on the family histories of the two main characters.  Kit is rebelling against her adoptive mother.  As an adoptive mother myself, I found this part of the novel very interesting.

WHAT OTHER’S ARE SAYING:

“My friend Lynette has a hit on her hands with this romantic suspense.”- Dee Henderson, best-selling author of the O’Malley series
“A fast moving tale filled with nonstop action.  No chance to catch your breath with this one!”- Irene Hannon, best-selling author of the Heroes of Quantico series
“One heck of a thriller.  The suspense is high; I was turning pages so fast I had to go back and re-read.”- Suspense Magazine
