MY TAKE ON THE BOOK:
I liked this book very much.  Michael Phillips not only uses words to paint a picture of Scotland for you to see – you hear it as well, in the language of the people.  When the local dialect is written it is a bit difficult to read, but still worth the effort for the feel it gives to the book.  It’s clear that the author has a deep understanding of Scotland and he shares that with the reader.  I enjoyed learning about the country and its people.  He tells us things like, the pride of the Scottish people and their love for their country.  The story of a harpist, is particularly interesting, it is such a romantic instrument.  The heroine was named Angel by her mother, but she always disliked it and dropped it as soon as she could, using her middle name Marie, instead.  Yet her name fits her, as you find as you get to know her through the book.  The style, the short chapters, all gives the feel of a conversation or a journal.  Like life, it has happiness and sadness, and takes you on an emotional journey.  I hope you enjoy this book, like I did!
