The book, Running Around, gives the reader a look into Amish life from the perspective of young Lizzie Glick. Lizzie feels like she doesn’t fit in like her sisters Emma and Mandy. Emma seems to always want to do what her mother and father ask of her, while Lizzie rebels and wants to do things her own way. As Lizzie gets older and needs to work outside the home, she experiences new and puzzling feelings.
Author, Linda Byler, grew up in the Amish community and is an active member of the Amish church today. As a columnist for a weekly Amish newspaper, Linda is well known in central Pennsylvania, where she lives with her husband, children and grandchildren.
For anyone who has felt different, or less than perfect, you will relate to Lizzie and her story. I think this would be an excellent read for young girls who may compare themselves to their peers and feel lacking. Lizzie’s emotions are something that we all have felt, one time or another, while growing up.
Linda Byler included a glossary of words that may be unfamiliar to non-Amish readers and seven recipes at the end of the book. The main character, Lizzie, struggles with limiting her calories (like most of us!) and Linda included seven mouth-watering recipes for Lizzie’s favorite dishes. Creamsticks, Baked Macaroni and Cheese, Molasses Cookies and more!
A lucky reader will get their own copy of Running Around!

I’ve visited Amish Country in 1990 and read a lot of Beverly Lewis books. That the sum total of my knowledge.
I have read one other Amish book and really enjoyed it. Thanks for hosting this giveaway.
Not as much as I’d like to. I only know from what I was told in school and seen visiting the Lancaster, PA area.

We live close enough that I know some–enough to know that I’m NOT Amish. We were vacationing once and the couple next to us, hearing we were from a small town in Pa, wanted to know if we were Amish!
Tbh, I actually don’t know anything about it. :$

I really don’t have much of an idea of the Amish. However, I took a field trip in grade school and we stopped by and bought stuff sold by Amish. Their houses are so traditional..I kinda understand how I would enjoy a lifestyle like their’s.
