SecretKills-3 copy

I requested a review copy of “When A Secret Kills” by Lynette Eason from publisher, Revell Books because I loved a previous novel and because Eason is reviewed by some of my favorite authors, Dee Henderson, Irene Hannon and Terri Blackstock.

The prologue of this book, “When A Secret Kills” has a marriage proposal, a mysterious heroine hiding a secret, an investigative reporter and an explosion. My kind of book! You know from the first pages that you aren’t going to be able to sleep until you’ve finished it. Then because it’s a romantic, suspense novel – there’s a hunky guy. Of course. Now you know that it’s going to be a page-turner.

“When A Secret Kills” is third in the Deadly Reunions series by best-selling author Lynette Eason, but definitely stands alone.  I reviewed one of her other books in the Women of Justice series, again a stand alone.  Although Eason writes series, there is enough to each individual story that they can be enjoyed independently.

Like “A Killer Among Us”, this book kept me on the edge of my seat.  I was surprised at many of the elements in the central crime.  Eason did an excellent job in revealing the details slowly but at a consistent pace to keep your interest level at a maximum.  Without giving any spoilers, here is the plot teaser from the back of the book:

Investigative reporter Jillian Carter knows it’s time to put the past to rest. She’s tired of looking over her shoulder, letting a killer go free. She’s no longer the scared kid who changed her name and disappeared. Now, no matter what the cost, Jillian must do what she is trained to do—ferret out the truth and expose it. Senator Frank Hoffman committed murder ten years ago—and Jillian watched it happen.

Didn’t she?

Not even the enigmatic and attractive Colton Brady, her ex-boyfriend and nephew of the killer, will be able to make her leave this alone. Get ready for a ride that will make you afraid to be home alone.
