My daughter and I heard the story of the Great Chicago Fire and some fire safety tips today from Cal Ripken Jr. and the Energizer crew. Â October 8th will be the 141st anniversary of the day Mrs. O’Leary’s cow knocked over the lantern and started the blaze that leveled 3.3 miles of city buildings and took hundreds of lives in Chicago. Â The Chicago Water Tower was one of the few buildings to survive the fire, and that was the site of an event sponsored by Energizer today.
October kicks off the “Change Your Clocks, Change Your Battery” campaign. Â With fall coming, we will soon be changing our clocks “falling back” an hour. Â Using the task of changing clocks to trigger our memories to change the batteries in our smoke alarms at the same time, will save lives! Â Local fire departments nationwide work to raise awareness on the importance of working smoke detectors in the home.
Starting on October 11th, the Energizer Bunny® Facebook page will also be hosting a Family Safety Kit giveaway where lucky fans can register to receive a kit equipped with Energizer® MAX® AA Batteries, Energizer® Advanced Lithium AA Batteries, combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector, Energizer® Rubber LED Flashlight and Energizer®Flameless Wax Candles.
