"Cinderella" is synonymous with "magic" in our house.  From the first time I walked down Main Street as a child and got a look at the Cinderella Castle, I knew what "magic" meant.  One of my favorite memories of all times is my daughter's face when she had that same moment and the joy on her face. The story of Cinderella, the movie, the dress!  Disney's animated movie, Cinderella, is a classic in family entertainment and a must-have for every … [Read more...]

Oscar Movie Review: Ides of March

Ryan Gosling turned in an amazing performance as a assistant campaign manager that moves from an idealistic, hopeful supporter to a cynical, jaded, and scheming blackmailer.  He says something like, "This is my life we're talking about" at one point in the movie when he is being used as a pawn.  Unfortunately, it is his life and his heart that ends up being destroyed by the political machinations of a presidential campaign. This film, Ides … [Read more...]

Oscar Movie Review: Moneyball

Aaaarrrrgghhhh!  I have a love/hate relationship with movies that leave me saying aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!  And googling questions and wishing I could talk to the writer.  Moneyball is soooo good.  But frustrating at the end!  Okay, okay, I'll start at the beginning, not the end. Brad Pitt plays the role of Billy Beane, the General Manager for the Oakland A's.  His team has a very small budget compared to teams like the New York Yankees which means … [Read more...]

Movie Review: Midnight in Paris

I just returned from a trip to Paris - well, at least that's how it feels after watching the Sony Pictures Classics movie, Midnight in Paris.  The movie opens with the traditional tourist scenes of Paris:  Notre Dame; Eiffel Tower; bridges over the Seine; Arc de Triomphe and continues to give us a beautiful tour of a beautiful city. Oh yes, and there is a story!  Owen Wilson plays a romantic Hollywood writer who wants to try to write … [Read more...]

Movie Review: Beauty and the Beast in 3D – Three Generations Loved It!

My mom, my daughter, and I went to see Beauty and the Beast today.  In true Disney tradition, it was magical!  Despite the fact that I've seen the movie a gazillion times, it was magical to see it in the theater and in 3D.  The familiar scenes were beautiful in three dimensions and theater projection size.  The music we all love was big and rich from theater speakers. My mom was hesitant to go and reluctantly agreed to go, just to be with us. … [Read more...]
