Design Star

I watched The Next Food Network Star and HGTV Design Star and I'm hooked! I love both of them. I'm going to look forward to Sunday Night TV!Did you watch? What did you think?Ooooo, which one to talk about first? Okay, Design Star. There are 12 designers in the competition to win their own show on HGTV. And it IS a competition. Hehehe. You can tell Mark Burnett is a producer, there was Drama - with a capital D. I loooooved it!The Design … [Read more...]

Movie Review – Sex and the City 2

I really wanted to like this movie. I had heard a review by Richard Roeper - usually I don't like to hear a review before I go, but this was somewhat accidental and once it started, my curiosity was piqued. Mr. Roeper hated the movie. But how many guys like any of the Sex and the City (SATC) shows? Even less, how many admit to liking Sex and the City. Now that I've seen the movie, though, he did make a few valid points.Sex AND THE CITY. … [Read more...]

Movie Review – Shrek Forever After

You wake up to the same old, same old, every day...... You start to wonder where your life is going.... Then you see a picture of the young, wild and free you... You begin to long for those days....Well, if you're a large green ogre, don't, don't, don't sign anything! Especially if it's presented to you by someone named Rumpelstiltskin. You foolishly agree to trade one day of your life (a day you don't even remember) to regain your youth when … [Read more...]

Movie Review – Just Wright

Queen Latifah plays Leslie Wright, a biological-clock-ticking woman, who just hasn't met Mr. Right. Groan, I know, I know, it's a bad pun. Leslie is the girl that every guy likes to have as a friend, watch a basketball game with, hang out. She's not the girl that her cousin/friend Morgan is. Morgan is the hot chick who wants (and is voted most-likely-to) marry an NBA star. At one point in the movie, a friend of Leslie describes Morgan as "The … [Read more...]

Movie Review – Letters to Juliet

I give this movie a "thumbs-up"! I loved it! That said, I also love Lassie, White Christmas, and Doris Day. Letters to Juliet is a very nice movie. Dare I say "wholesome"? It is a little like when your grandmother told you that she had a nice girl for you to meet. My grandmother would have liked Sophia (the main character, played by Amanda Seyfried) and this movie. One of the critics said, "If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the movie." … [Read more...]

Movie Review – Iron Man 2

Wowee, zowee! Iron Man 2 opened today and I was able to see it in an IMAX theater. Robert Downey, Jr. reprised the role of Tony Stark - Iron Man taken from Marvel comics. I loved the first Iron Man and looked forward to seeing Iron Man 2. I was not disappointed. Despite a run time of 2 hours and 5 minutes, it was one of those movies that somehow suspends time. That's one of my key indicators of whether I like a film. If I get so drawn … [Read more...]

Movie Review: The Back-Up Plan

The Back-Up Plan, starring Jennifer Lopez and Alex O'Loughlin is a fun and entertaining movie. The opening credits said that it is an "Escape Artists Production" and that gave me an idea of what was to come - a pleasant escape. If you have a few spare hours, this is a fun way to escape from grocery shopping, laundry, dishes and be entertained. There aren't deep serious thoughts that will stay with you and keep you awake at night. Jennifer … [Read more...]

What's at the movies? Alice In Wonderland

I just wrote my first guest post - thank you to Traci at "I'd Let My Kids See That" for publishing my review of Alice In Wonderland. Traci loves "... when a kid's movie is enjoyable to the adults in the room ("Up", anyone?). And because of that I hate when age-inappropriate content pops up (I'm looking at you, "Shrek"!)." She reviews current and DVD movies - quality, kid perspective and "warns you of any unpleasant surprises."Have you seen, … [Read more...]

How To Train Your Dragon

A quick review in case you are considering seeing this move, tonight...Pack up and family and go! I think you’ll love it!I went to see “How To Train Your Dragon” this afternoon, in Imax 3D. Wow. Dreamworks Animation created this fun, exciting movie about a young boy named Hiccup and the dragon he befriends and names, “Toothless”. The scenes of flight and battles were amazing, but more amazing for me were the messages of the movie. Rather … [Read more...]
