Welcome to the 2012 Savory Summer blog-hopping giveaway event! I have teamed up with Measuring FlowerGraphoniac, and a bunch of other awesome blogs to bring you some tasteful food or food-related giveaways (each worth at least $25)–just in time for picnics and pool parties!

Our incredible grand prize sponsors for this decadent event are Nostalgia Electrics and Ella’s Kitchen, who are offering prizes worth over $100 each! You can enter to win one or both grand prizes HERE.
The prize here at Kelly’s Lucky You is sponsored by the Midwest Dairy Council and it’s an awesome one!!
Midwest Dairy Council wants to power up your spring fitness routine with a Get Moo-ving Pack.
This fitness pack (valued at $100, shown above) provides you with all the essentials for your favorite outdoor activity, including an iTunes gift card, a Cuisinart hand blender for your post-workout smoothies, and Dairy Makes Sense wicking gear.

The Cuisinart Smart Stick Blender has a powerful 200 watts, easy one-touch control, a stainless steel blending shaft, and effortless (really!) cleanup.  You can blend right in the pot, beaker or bowl.  I’ve used mine in a plastic bowl, stainless bowl, glass measuring cup and stainless pot.  I was amazed last Sunday how quick and easy it was to blend my pancake mix ingredients.  My mom says she thinks the pancakes were fluffier too!  You can use it in hot (soup) or cold (smoothies) recipes.  And the cleanup?  The bottom portion snaps right off and goes in the dishwasher.

Did you know dairy is Sports Fuel?!  Chocolate Milk is Nature’s Sports Drink!  It has nine, yup, NINE essential nutrients!  Carbohydrates for quick refuel. Potassium and magnesium, two key electrolytes lost in sweat.  Protein to stimulate muscle growth and Vitamin B12 for energy!  Calcium and Vitamin D strengthen bones and reduce stress fracture risks.  Low-fat chocolate milk is a perfect post-workout beverage.  Who knew, right?

I used dairy and my Cuisinart Smart Stick to make a Peanut Butter and Banana Breakfast Shake.  Yummy!  Here’s the recipe:

Peanut Butter and Banana Breakfast Shake

Ingredients:

1 cup of fat-free or 1% low-fat chocolate milk

1/2 cup frozen banana slices

1 tablespoon peanut butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in a blender; blend until smooth and creamy.  Serve in a tall glass or take it to-go in your favorite to-go cup!

This is an awesome prize pack with tons of fun products – enter in the Rafflecopter below and good luck!

Giveaway: The Pocket Referee. It Saved Our Vacation (And Was Fun To Watch In Action) Ends 6/2, US

Little Girl #1 (stamping foot):  It’s MY turn!

Little Girl #2 (stamping foot harder):  IT IS NOT!  YOU’RE NOT FAIR!  MOOOOOOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOM!

Don’t you dread hearing that multi-syllable, eight second long, Moooooooooo-uh-oooooooom!   “Mom, she’s blah-blah-ing AGAIN.”  or the dreaded, “You always take HER side.” *sigh*

Even Princesses Fight

Rosie is an only child so I don’t hear these awful words every day, but I do hear them every playdate.  When we decided that my husband would stay home for our Disney vacation after the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration to let Rosie’s best friend go with her, I knew that we needed help.  I can survive playdates hearing the two girls argue over what seems like every little thing, but I would not last an entire week.

In steps, The Pocket Referee to save the day.  Another one of those simple-yet-genius products!  I was amazed at how this worked to keep the girls from arguing on our week long vacation.  Wow.  I was most surprised at how it worked, doing something I had never expected.  But I’m kind of jumping ahead.  Here’s the “rules” of The Pocket Referee:

1.  You flip the special coin and one child “calls” it.  (they will undoubtedly battle over who gets to “call” it.  But smile, it’s the last battle you’re going to have to settle, hehehe)

2.  The winner of the coin toss is now the “holder of The Pocket Referee”.  Rosie and Ruthie (her bff) are into “power”, so I told them that whoever holds the coin has “THE POWER OF THE REFEREE”.    (spoken in appropriate hushed tones).

3.  Whenever there is a question or a disagreement, whoever has “THE POWER OF THE REFEREE” can decide whether a) they want to win the argument and make the decision (passing the referee to the other person) or b) keep the referee for a potentially more important decision and let the other person make the decision.

This is the genius twist!  The choice of whether to use the referee or to keep it, shifts the power from the question of the argument to the question of whether to use the referee or not.  Even if the holder of the coin doesn’t make the decision in question, they DID make the decision to give up the right to decide.  Genius!  It is beautiful to watch!  I hope I explained that well enough.  You almost have to see it in action, but it is so awesome.  And I love that it teaches kids to discern what is important and what is not.  It truly surprised me that both little girls would hold on to The Pocket Referee and let the other one decide, for hours even for a whole day.

Rosie and Ruthie are six years old and I imagine that how kids use The Pocket Referee will vary depending on how old they are.  Younger children will need adult explanation, especially in the beginning, but I’m guessing that older children would be “off and running” and independently using it pretty quickly.

If you are like me, you are probably saying to yourself, well, why can’t I use any-old coin.  It won’t have the same effect as using a special coin.  Kids are funny about what they give authority to.  The more official, the more unusual something is, the more likely they are to go with it.  The Pocket Referee is very affordable at $9.95 (eligible for free shipping at Amazon.com) and comes with a carrying pouch and instructions.  (Somehow reading “instructions” adds to the authority level, as well.)  For $9.95?  Money well-spent, I say!

One lucky Kelly’s Lucky You reader will be able to try The Pocket Referee for free.  Yay!  I am going to earn someone’s undying loyalty.  Seriously, this thing works that good.  Enter in the Rafflecopter form below.  If you can’t wait to stop your kids from arguing though, just go to Amazon.com and search on The Pocket Referee!  Happy Peacefulness!
