Memorial Day is coming up and
it’s the perfect time to express appreciation for the service of America’s military. Â

One of my all-time favorite, favorite, favorite companies, Build-A-Bear has launched two programs to celebrate service.  In partnership with the USO, a nonprofit organization that provides programs, services and live entertainment to United States troops and their families, Build-A-Bear is creating moments that matter for our troops and their families.  Share a message of thanks on social media platforms using the hashtag, #babwUSOthanks.  For each share, Build-A-Bear Workshop will donate one dollar to the USO, up to $50,000! Â

The second program is called, Huggable Heroes.  Build-A-Bear awards scholarships to children ages eight through 18 for extraordinary acts of service.  Do you know someone who might qualify?  You can nominate them in Build-A-Bear stores or at the website, BuildABear.com.  Winner’s of the scholarships will also choose their favorite charity and Build-A-Bear will donate $2,500 to their designated organization.
2014 Huggable Heroes will each receive a $5,000 educational scholarship and $2,500 to be donated to the cause of their choice.
Over the course of the program, over 100 kids have been named Huggable Heroes and have collectively been awarded nearly one million dollars in donations and scholarships. Many started their own nonprofit organizations and inspired others to join their causes, encouraging tens of thousands of young people to make a positive difference in their communities and around the world.
