Perfect for teams, playdates, special events – or just to be creative!  You can easily design and paint your own custom sneakers with Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers.  These are called “markers” with good reason – they are as easy to use as a standard marker.  I loved using Painters Paint Markers and was amazed at how fast is was to be an “artist”.

I found everything I needed at Walmart in the craft and shoe departments.  First I looked for the Elmer’s Painters Paint Markers and a lovely employee helped me to go there straight away.  Just one aisle over from Kids Crafts.  I loved all the shades of blue and pink.  I knew I wanted to make a pair of shoes for Rosie and those are her colors!

Loved the varieties of colors!

Next I headed to the ribbon section in the sewing and crafts area.  I found some great blue “bling” sparkly ribbon that would work perfectly for shoe laces.  It didn’t come in pink, so that made the decision for me on whether to go with shades of pink or shades of blue.  Rosie loves Minnie Mouse – and that means bows!  There was a great selection of adorable bows and I found some stick on bling that I thought would work well too.  That’s the advantage of making it yourself, you can customize it to your own child’s likes.

Adorable bows and embellishments!

I was nervous about “freehand painting” – no erasers!  Hmmm, I know, stencil!  I googled Hidden Mickey stencil and found a nice Mickey shape I could cut out and use.  With a pencil, I drew the Mickeys onto the shoes.

The Painters Paint Markers are super easy to use.  You shake them, with the cap on, and you can hear the little mixing beads inside.  Then you depress the tip onto a surface (I used paper), until the paint starts coming out.  You’re ready to create!

Shake with cap on, press tip onto surface until paint starts coming out. Easy!

As easy as using a marker!

I am very excited about letting Rosie and a friend make their own!  Fun craft for a playdate.  At my Walmart, the shoes were only $5.00.  The paint markers, which look as if they would last quite a while, were $1.97 each.  That’s a great price for such a fun craft.
