Yesterday, Disney President and Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Iger announced Heroes Work Here.  It’s Disney’s new company-wide initiative to hire, train and support returning veterans.
Mr. Iger said, “It’s a measure of our respect for how much they have sacrificed on our behalf, and our sincere gratitude for their extraordinary contributions to this country.”
Disney is promising at least 1,000 jobs over the next three years for returning US vets. Â But even beyond those jobs, this launch of a national public awareness campaign will result in many, many more jobs as other employers join the effort to support military families.
“The military values of honor, integrity, commitment, and courage, along with the skills and experience they’ve gained through their service, make veterans incredibly valuable employees for any company.”

Now, the Animal Kingdom Care Team is reporting that the 5 month old baby okapi at the park is exploring the savanna with her mama! Â How much did your baby weigh at 5 months? Â This little one, named Makemba, is umm… 187 pounds! Â No baby-wearing for okapis, hehehe.
Fun Fact: Â Did you know that the okapi, despite its stripes, is a relative of the giraffe and not the zebra?
