Welcome to the Back 2 School Boogie Giveaway! Huge thanks to hosts The WiC Project and Barefoot Mommies, as well as the event sponsor, SaveAndMakeMoola.com, who is providing a $500 cash grand prize!
If you’re new to multi-blog events, here’s how The Back 2 School Boogie works. Each of the 25 participating blogs must have a minimum of $75 in prizes. That means the total value of prizes in the event is at least $1,875, plus the grand prize of $500. After entering one blog’s giveaway, participants can hop to another, for a chance to win another prize and earn more odds toward the grand prize from Save and Make Moola.  Hence, the term “blog hop”! Blog hopping not only allows viewers to read entries and leave comments, but share links and, in this case, participate in giveaways. A complete list of the participating blogs can be found at http://www.wicproject.com/giveaway/b2s-bloggie-boogie/.
Here at Kelly’s Lucky You, the prize is a package just for Mom! What are you going to do the first day of school this year? Cry? Celebrate? A little of both? Well I have a special giveaway for Mom on the first day of school! I say, curl up on your most comfy sofa or chair, read a good book and munch on some delicious Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels.
First up? The delicious books, Insatiable and Overbite by NY Times bestselling author, Meg Cabot. Main character, Meena Harper is familiar with the supernatural. After all, she knows how you’re going to die. (Not that you’re going to believe her. No one ever does.) Instead of telling a co-worker to avoid driving on a certain expressway because if they do, they are going to die in a fiery crash; she tells them the traffic is backed up. They are more likely to listen to a traffic report than a psychic prediction!
Single. with an enthusiastic matchmaking neighbor, Meena is getting “fixed up” again – this time with a Romanian prince, of all things. She wouldn’t agree to it, but she needs material for her job. As a soap opera writer, knowing things like how to apply a tourniquet or how to describe a European prince, are all part of the daily grind.
Lucien turns out to be more than just a blind date – much more. Tall, dark, rich and handsome Lucien could be Meena’s dream man. Could be, but sadly there are problems with their match. One insurmountable problem is Meena’s reluctance to join the “undead” world of vampires!
What is Meena’s future? Can she find a way to live (literally) with Lucien? I won’t spoil a great story! You are going to have to read “Insatiable” to find out! “Insatiable” are you? Want more? There’s a sequel! New in June, 2011, hot-off-the-press, “Overbite” is the next book in the series and this prize package includes them both!
MY TAKE ON THE BOOK: Insatiable is a delightful combination of elements from other favorites of mine! Meg Cabot has written a novel with the best of the best, including:
- the sexiness of vampire novels like Twilight;
- the mystery of Kay Hooper’s psychic crime fighters;
- the fun and humor of Stephanie Plum stories by Janet Evanovich.
You will devour this book as quickly as a starved vampire devours his new victim. I couldn’t put it down!
More, you say? How about two more great reads by NY Times bestselling author, Dorothea Benton Frank? Two books in the Lowcountry Series, Lowcountry Summer and Folly Beach. Here’s what’s being said about these two books:
“Dottie Frank’s books are sexy and hilarious. She has staked out the lowcountry of South Carolina as her personal literary property.” – Pat Conroy
“Get ready to laugh and cry.” – Kathryn Stockett, author of The Help
“Frank brilliantly juxtaposes a play within a novel , the past and the present, to bring to life the scintillating Charleston Renaissance of the twenties and a modern woman’s triumphant journey of self-discovery and love. I loved it – and you will, too.” – Mary Alice Monroe, author of The Butterfly’s Daughter
And to munch on while you read, you have to have some great snacks, no? How about a coupon for free Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzels? Yes! I first heard about them on QVC, where they sold like crazy! If you haven’t tried them, the varieties include cream cheese, different fruits, seasonal favorites, from plain to fancy, but ALL delicious.
