Is your child getting a flu vaccine this year? Â My daughter does every year and we are planning to go to Walgreens so she could help a child in a developing country also get a life-saving vaccine. Â 1.7 million children will die from diseases that have all but disappeared in the U.S. Â Why? Â They don’t have the resources for vaccines. Â A disease like measles, measles, still kills an estimated 450 EACH DAY – the majority of whom are young children. Â I told her about the program and she said, “Mom I like helping people, can I get more than one?” Â Awwwww, I love this kid!
In many ways, I am sheltered to what goes on in other countries of the world, especially developing countries. Â We don’t see much about the conditions children of the world often find themselves. Â My daughter was born in Guatemala and I currently sponsor two children in that country, so I am aware on some level of the poverty. Â But until I found out about the “Get A Shot. Give A Shot.” program that Walgreens is doing, I wasn’t aware of the immense need for basic vaccinations that will give children around the world a shot at life.
Walgreens is partnering with the United Nations Foundation. The UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign educates, connects and empowers Americans to champion vaccines as one of the most cost-effective ways to save the lives of children in developing countries.  From September 2nd through October 13th, for every flu shot or other immunization you receive at Walgreens, you will help provide a life-saving vaccine to a child in a developing country through the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign.
Back-to-school means many things and unfortunately one of them is the fast spread of  illness.  According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) seasonal flu activity is low across the United States now, but usually begins to increase in October.  The CDC recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older.
Please help. Â It’s easy. Â If you choose Walgreens to get your child’s vaccinations this year, they will help provide a vaccine for a child in a developing country. Â You will save a child’s life. Â And without any inconvenience, in fact, you’ll find that going to your local Walgreen’s will have these benefits:
- Walgreens makes it quick and easy – no appointment needed
- Most Insurance Accepted
- Walgreens pharmacists will report back to your primary care physician
- Walgreens will provide a life saving vaccine to a child in a developing country through the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign
