Disney asked me to try their new, fun app based on the Disney Junior television series, Doc McStuffins. It’s called “Doc McStuffins”: Time For Your Check Up!” Children can play along with their favorite characters (Lambie, of course!) Doc, Hallie and the rest of their friends. There are four different and fun activities, with developmental results that please mom as well.
“Time for your check up!” If you have a child under the age of ten, chances are you are singing that in your head as you read the words *big smile*. Doc McStuffins is a favorite in our house. It helps that my daughter, Rosie has carried around a stuffed lamb for years, who is named, of course, “Lambie”. Just like the lovable child character on Disney Junior, my Rosie loves her “stuffies” too.
The four activities in the Doc McStuffins app are:
1. Check-Up. At Check-Up players help Doc examine patients and diagnose their ailments!
2. Mixupitis. Players cure mixed up toys by “taking them apart” and putting them back together again.
3. Doctor’s Kit. This is so cool! Using the camera on your phone or iPad, you can listen to someone’s heart or even x-ray. (Works on stuffies, toys and people too!)
4. Picture Stickers. All kids love stickers. With these virtual Doc McStuffins themed stickers, players can decorate their own photos of family or toys.
On the television show, Doc McStuffins records her solved cases in the Big Book of Boo Boos. In this app, the Big Book of Boo Boos saves the names and ailments of patients you have helped. Children can review their successes, again and again.

My 7 year old daughter, gives Doc McStuffins a big thumbs up! She heard me “testing” it and couldn’t wait to try it. The game that got she wanted to try first was Mixupitis, then she moved on to Picture Stickers. She loved all the options and I think this is an app that will have her coming back again and again because of the variety. The graphics are excellent quality and the sound is interesting enough for kids, but not maddening for adults.
