Me: Â Rosie, what’s your favorite thing about Peppa Pig?
Rosie: Â It’s a tie, Mommy, two things… when they giggle and when they snort!
Peppa Pig is an award-winning animated series for preschool-aged children (ie a great cartoon!) that has been a favorite in Great Britain for years. Â There is even a Peppa Pig Theme Park in Britain! Â In 2011, the show came to Nick Jr. and Americans are falling in love with this adorable pig family.
Peppa is a little piggy who lives with her brother George. Â I love the description on the DVD – “Peppa is a loveable, cheeky little piggy.” Â Hehehe, “cheeky”! Â There are other British-isms and all the pigs speak with a lovely British accent (see, I’ve already caught on, using the word “lovely”).
“Peppa loves playing games, dressing up, visiting exciting places and making new friends, but her absolutely favourite thing is jumping up and down in muddy puddles!”
The episodes (peppasodes) are in nibble-sized bites of only 5 minutes, perfect for preschool attention spans. Â The preschool humor is sure to generate giggles from your little ones (and adults!). Â The simple drawings and bright colors are attractive for kids and endearing to adults. Â Rosie is six years old, but was not too old to enjoy it, and neither were her mom and dad. Â Even the music is cute!
There are now all sorts of adorable toys, books and videos of these adorable characters. Â Here are just a few:
