In the Introduction, Tanya tells us, “The idea for this book came one day as I was making dinner for my family from a typical cookbook.  It was full of enticing photos with brief yet detailed descriptions, lists of ingredients and simple instructions for cooking… I decided to start gathering a collection of inspiring interior design projects with beautiful images and a simple framework to follow and combine them into a cookbook format.”  Genius!

My Take:

This is a beautiful, beautiful book.  The paper is high quality, the “feel” of the book is delicious.  The colors are tasteful, relaxing, but inspiring.  The layout of the chapters is visually pleasing and easy-to-read.  The photographs draw you in and the Room Recipes are simple, but educational.  Tanya manages to teach interior design in such an entertaining and pleasurable way that you hardly realize that she is giving you solid principles along the way.  While she has her own distinctive flair, she shows rooms with various themes and design styles so that there is something for everyone in this lovely book.  I began reading it this evening and can’t wait to get started on some projects – the book not only gives you a portfolio of ideas, Tanya makes them seem doable and exciting.

I’m selling my house and moving 800 miles away to Huntsville, Alabama, to live next door to my son and his family. An all new (to me) house after 25 years here makes for lots of decorating needs. I’d love to win that book so that I can raise my decorating skills up a notch or two. Thanks for the opportunity.
