*sniff, sniff*
My heart was touched by this story and I think yours will be too!
The Sparkle Box is a book, but more than a book, it’s a tradition you can begin for your family. Â My daughter was instantly excited by the shiny box on the cover of the book, “What is THAT?”, she exclaimed. Â She couldn’t wait for my husband to read the book to her.
Storyline
During the weeks leading up to Christmas, the little boy, Sam, wonders what the sparkly box on his family’s mantel could be? Â His mom tells him “It’s a special gift, called a Sparkle Box. Â We’ll open it together, but we need to fill it first.” Â His parents tell him that they are adding things to the box as the days go by, but that it’s not ready to open yet. Â Then on Christmas morning, he discovers what the Sparkle Box is all about. Â It turns out that the Sparkle Box is the family’s gift to Jesus. Â Each time the child did something to help someone else in need, his mom or dad wrote it on a slip of paper and put the paper in the box. Â Because after all, “whatever we do for people in need, we do for Him.”
We read the book as a family, tonight and assembled our own Sparkle Box (it come with the book). Â Earlier in the week, Rosie and I Â had put together a shoe box for Operation Christmas Child, so I had Rosie write it down and add it to the Sparkle Box!
The book is a 10 by 10 hardcover, excellent quality with beautiful, rich illustrations.  Available at most local bookstores, online, or at idealsbooks.com.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I was sent The Sparkle Box for review.
We really have lost the true meaning of Christmas. I like how the Sparkle Box brings back the true meaning and focuses on how we can show Jesus that we are thinking of him. There are great resources, idea, links, and printouts on the site to help get kids involved in this. Wonderful! I must have this book in my children’s collection!
They have activities and materials to help w/the tradition
I love how it gives detailed instructions so they parents have an idea how to start.
found pdf instructions for making a sparkle jar
I like all the different ideas, many good suggestions
so many awesome ideas!!!
I like their idea here: What can you put in The Sparkle Box for Jesus?
Presents are meant to bring us joy. So when you ask yourself what you should put in Jesus’ Sparkle Box, think about the things that make Jesus happy.
Sounds like a wonderful way to bring the real spirit of Christmas :-)
This a great idea to start a new tradition. I read that you can also give donations by using The Good Card which is kind of similar to a gift card that just goes directly to the cause that you want to support. Awesome.
I like the sparklebox chore chart!
I read the reviews on the site, and they were so sweet. People really seem to love the Sparkle Box!
this would be great to take my family back to the true meaning of christmas
Hi Kelly, I just wanted to thank you for reviewing The Sparkle Box. I love that your daughter wrote down the shoebox your family filled for Operation Christmas Child! Thanks for sharing the photo of her writing out the slip of paper. It is very touching! Tell your daughter I said hello. Many blessings to you and your family—Jill Hardie

I learned that the Sparkle Box is a gift for Jesus that the family and/or children either come up with money for or create. I also learned some activities that my family can do with the Sparkle Box.
The Sparkle Box is a gift that honors Jesus on his birthday :)
