It’s the time of year when we hear two things. My facebook feed is full of:
My whole family is sick!Â
and
I don’t have time to be sick!
With winter full upon us and changeable weather conditions, crowded parties and stores, and colds and flu spreading fast we often find ourselves feeling tired, run down, or full-on sick. Â Viruses seem to run through my daughter’s school so quickly. Â As much as we encourage hand washing, hand sanitizer, not sharing, kids are kids and the germs jump from one to the next. Â Cold, cough and flu illnesses don’t wait for Monday to Friday primary care physicians. Â What is it about the flu that it seems to strike on the weekends?!
Luckily for us there are clinics available 7 days a week at CVS/pharmacy stores in28 states and DC. Â And you can walk right in without an appointment. Â That means a lot when you have a child that is ill and you don’t want to wait for help.
I went to my local CVS store today and took these pictures of our MinuteClinic. Â It’s located in the back of my CVS store, right next to the pharmacy.
It was super easy to sign in. Â There was a computer station that asked basic questions. Â Then I was added to the queue. Â When is the last time you went to any health care facility and only had one person ahead of you?
In addition to longer wait times, other options like the ER have higher costs than a CVS MinuteClinic.
Board-certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants can diagnose, treat and prescribe (when clinically appropriate) for a variety of common family illnesses, such as strep throat, ear infections, pink eye and UTIs. • MinuteClinic offers a wide range of vaccinations for children, adolescents, teens and adults including flu, pertussis (whooping cough), meningitis and others. For hours and locations near you, visit http://minuteclinic.com/locations.

Disclosure of Material Connection: Â I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for CVS MinuteClinic. I received promotional items as a thank you for participating.
I haven’t gotten my flu shot for many reasons, I’m conflicted about getting it to be honest…I’ve heard many horror stories and I’m not sure if I want to take the risk. They don’t fully protect you against getting the flu but then, it also helps prevent too! Perhaps next year. :)
This year I got my flu shot at the pediatrician’s office with my kids, but a few years ago I got it at CVS. The pharmacist was super nice and it only took a few minutes to get in and out!

This is nice to know as we have a CVS real close to where I live. Only takes a few minutes is great – wait long in a doctors office than that . thanks for the info
