For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) has helped young people find a safe, caring environment during non-school hours. Today there are more than 4,000 Clubs that affect the lives of over 4 million boys and girls. And to understand how much they affect those lives, in a Harris Survey, guess what percentage of people who had used the services of BGCA said the Club saved their lives? 57! 57 percent said the Boys & Girls Clubs of America saved. their. lives. That’s effective programs.

I’m honored to be able to announce that I”m a Boys & Girls Club (BGCA) Back-to-School Ambassador!  Getting my daughter ready for school in the fall means making sure she has uniforms that fit, buying the supplies on her school list, choosing a new backpack and lunch box.  But with one out of five children living in poverty, back-to-school means falling behind before they even start. That’s where the BGCA steps in to help.  From providing a safe place after school to tutoring programs or simply providing school supplies, BGCA opens the door to a bright future for kids that otherwise might not even have a future.

How can you help?  If you haven’t been to JCPenney lately, you will be pleasantly surprised the next time you go.  They have brought back sale prices (great prices!) and refurbished many of their stores.  The new home store is a must-see.  The colors and graphics pop.  My daughter was excited over the selection of children’s clothes and we picked up quite a few outfits there this summer.  When you go, you’ll also see the “Round-Up for Charity” program.  When you checkout, the cashier asks you if you would like to donate the amount it takes to round0up to the nearest dollar.  This month, July, JCPenney has partnered with BGCA.  The “round-up” will go towards BGCA programs.  100% of the donations raised in this campaign will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.  So head to jcp and while you’re there, round-up for BGCA.
