Is it challenging to find the perfect gift for someone on your list?
Do you have a friend or family member that wants a practical gift?
Is there someone in your life that is trying to reduce the clutter in their home or home office?
When I heard about the idea of a shredder as a gift, I was excited!  It’s not the first thing that pops into your head when you think of gift giving, but what a great gift!  Identity theft is on the rise and one of the best tips from the experts is to shred papers that contain information about your finances or other private details.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) defines identity theft as, “Identity theft happens when someone steals your personal information and uses it without your permission. It’s a serious crime that can wreak havoc with your finances, credit history, and reputation — and can take time, money, and patience to resolve.”

The FTC goes on to give this advice on protecting your identity:  “Protecting your personal information can help reduce your risk of identity theft. There are four main ways to do it: know who you share information with; store and dispose of your personal information securely, especially your Social Security number; ask questions before deciding to share your personal information; and maintain appropriate security on your computers and other electronic devices.”

One of the best ways to dispose of personal information securely is with a cross-cut shredder like the Fellowes M-12C shredder.   It comes equipped with all the features necessary to help our loved ones (or ourselves)  de-clutter their home or office and keep their family safe.

I have a basket sitting in my dining room right now with papers that need to be shredded.  I keep putting it off because our old shredder could only handle one piece of paper at a time and a staple would jam it.  It took forever to shred a thick stack of paper.  But now with the Fellowes M-12C shredder under our tree, I’m going to make short work of that chore.  I’m looking forward to going into the new year with a clean desk, organized office, and destroying sensitive mail as it arrives instead of having it build up.

I love the large bin!  It really holds a good quantity of shredded papers and reduces the amount of time you spend emptying it.  I’m going to be shredding old medical records and prescriptions with personal information.  Bank statements and bills from years ago.  Junk mail with credit card offers.  Even reports from when I volunteer at a local non profit.  What do you need to shred?

Features include:

â—‹ Cross-Cut blades that destroy 12 sheets of paper into approximately 302 particles per sheet for greater security

○ SafeSense® Technology which automatically disables the shredder when hands touch the paper opening

â—‹ The ability to shred credit cards, paper clips, staples and junk mail for added convenience

â—‹ Shreds for 5 minutes before automatic cool down

The M-12C is available at Target Stores nationwide and Target.com with a suggested retail price of $99.99.

This is something everyone should have. My mom had her identity stolen and it cost her thousands of dollars. We burn most of our papers but I would still rather shred them. This would make a great gift for friends who live in town and can’t burn their paper products.

This is a really great idea. I take so long ripping documents that have my private information on it. This would be the quicker solution.
