Love music?  Looking for high quality sound?  Portability?  Wireless streaming from phone, tablet, PC? All at an affordable price?  I found the answer!  Soundfreaq’s Sound Platform 2!

For at least ten years, I have been searching for an affordable way to have music in my house, with at least a reasonable sound quality.  When we built our house, we had the option of getting speakers in every room and decided not to do it.  I have been regretting that decision ever since.  Other people told me the sound quality of those intercom thingies wasn’t the best.  I tried many options, even as simple as putting a radio tuned to the same station all over the house in each room.  #fail  At the Consumer Electronics Show, I thought, “I’m certainly going to be able to find something here.”  And I did, wireless speakers!  It’s a great solution, but ouch! expensive.  The speakers were $250+.  Even though that was okay for buying one, I wanted more than one!  And at $250+ that was too much for me to be able to get more than one.  When Mom Central contacted me about reviewing the Soundfreaq Sound Platform 2, I was thrilled, but wanted to know I could afford more than one.  How much do they cost?  Approximately $150?  I’m all in!

I am so excited – I finally found the solution!  Sound Platform 2 from Soundfreaq is the answer to filling your home with music.  The sound quality is extraordinary.  I set up the Soundfreaq in our kitchen early one morning and my when my husband came down for breakfast, he said, “What is that?  It sounds great!”  If you like more technical descriptions, “Sound Platform 2 features two custom ported full range drivers that deliver deep bass and clear vocals at any volume.”  Speaking of volume, everyone talks about how loud a speaker can get, but honestly?  I care more about how it sounds when played softly.  Have you noticed that many speakers sound muddy when on low volume?  Not the Sound Platform 2 – clear and crisp.  Okay, more technical – “UQ3 provides spatial enhancement.  Tone Control allows you to select a bright, warm or neutral tone for your listening preference.”

I haven’t bought a second unit yet, but I definitely will be doing that very soon.  One of the features of the Sound Platform 2 that I’m excited about is that you can set up the speakers for stereo separation.  It’s called, “Dual System Streaming” and lets you split between left and right stereo sound.  Are you getting excited too?  Okay, here’s how easy set up was.

Opening the box…Box 1

It’s a small thing, but it’s not a small thing, it was easy to open the box.

I love this “welcome” card that is the first thing you see when you open the box!  It’s a genuine, people-to-people message.

Then, a simple instruction card with all the information you need.  Easy-to-read, friendly font, not a bazillion pages in languages you never even heard of… just sayin’…

What’s in the box?  Again, simple!  Not a lot of complicated, “Whaz this?” stuff.

Ah, Kelly, but what about connecting it to my iPhone (iPad, iPod, iWhatever, AndroidWhatever)?  Yes, again, easy!  Here’s how I paired (connected) it wirelessly to my iPad.

First, on the Sound Platform 2, press “power”, and “source” until you see the bluetooth symbol in the display.  On your iPad, go to settings and make sure your “Bluetooth” shows “On”.  On the right side, under devices, you’ll see “Sound Platform 2” and it will say “Not Connected”.  Press the “pair” button on the Sound Platform 2.  The Bluetooth symbol will blink.  Touch the bar that says “Sound Platform 2” on your iPad.  You’ll get the spinning, then “Connected”.  Piece o’ cake!

Then just go to your “Music” on your iPad and play away!  Ah…….  lovin’ me some “Lake Shore Drive” by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah… it’s summer!

One enhancement I would like to see is a rechargeable battery.  The info says that it’s “optional” but I couldn’t find one anywhere.  Needing a power cord is not fun, when you are wirelessly streaming.  For true, “anywhere” I’ll be getting that battery when it’s available!

A couple more features that are sweet – you can charge your device, and there’s a very cool light bar on the front of the speaker.  Yes, I care about how stuff looks in my house!

How would the Sound Platform 2 look anywhere and everywhere in your house?!
