Inspiration and Tips from a Success Story

When Nutrisystem asked me if I would like to interview a client that they call a “success story”, I jumped at the opportunity. I’m getting close to the halfway point to my goal and need some inspiration.  Maybe you are considering starting a weight loss journey of your own.

I hope these Q and A help you to find an incentive to start or to continue, like they did for me!

Jeannette – Before Nutrisystem

Jeannette Morales is a thirty-something mom in California, living with her husband and four children.  Jeannette used to be a model! She had a metabolism that I’ve always been jealous of, allowing her to fairly easily maintain a healthy weight.  Well, as she says, “all good things must end”.

Kelly:  Did you have a wake-up call?  What convinced you to start losing weight?

Jeannette: I was almost 200 pounds when I gave birth to my youngest son, Jaoquin. A year after he was born, no matter how much working out I was doing, I found myself still 30-35 pounds overweight. I knew I needed to change my diet. I wanted to regain my life and make my marriage as strong as it once was. I wanted to feel excited about life, because I had a great one and I was too busy feeling bad about myself to fully enjoy it. Realizing I could no longer continue feeling this way was my wake up call.

Kelly:  What motivated you to stay on track after the first few pounds?

Jeannette:  I have always seen the Nutrisystem commercials and was curious about the program. WhenA Marie Osmond became a success story herself, I knew I needed to make the leap of faith. I have always been a fan.  I allowed myself a budget and it would buy me about 4 months worth of their foods.  I knew I needed to make it work or else I would feel terrible about the expense. It was going to be my lifeline. The first week, I lost 6-7 pounds. I could not believe it. I had found something that my body was reacting to and I fell in love with the feeling of accomplishment. That is what kept me going. Also the fact that I could say goodbye, little by little, to all the clothes I bought when I was fuller and bring back to my closet the clothes I really wanted to be wearing. Every time I would put something on that had not fit in years, it will be a party in my closet!!!!!

Kelly: I’m a big Marie Osmond fan too and I was so happy to see her lose weight.  I hope she’ll be healthy and around for a long time – for her family (she’s an adoptive mom too!) and for her fans.  I love how you link the budget side into your motivation.  It’s true that spending hard-earned money on a weight loss plan can actually help you take the steps you need to for it’s success.  Especially with frugal bloggers and deal hunters like myself, I certainly don’t want to waste money on something that doesn’t work!  What is your favorite thing about being thinner?

Jeannette:  I lost a little over 30 pounds with the program and I AM BACK! Back to the happy, fun, energetic person I had always been. Back to being the active mother my kids deserve. Back to being the fun and beautiful wife to my amazing husband. Back to enjoying life and making every day better than the one before. Back to feeling empowered and strong. I do not know how I ever allowed myself to get to the dark place I lived in for those years, but it happened. I had stopped believing in myself. No more. Every day I make it a priority to remind myself how strong I am and how loved I am. My family deserves the happy mom and wife!!!
