Shake It Up is one of my daughter, Rosie’s favorite tv shows and she and her bff have a “theme song”, TTYLXOX, that is sung by one of the stars of Shake It Up, Bella Thorne.  When I saw the email offering an interview with Bella, I knew Rosie would be uber-excited to talk to one of her favorite stars!

Bella Thorne, CeCe on Shake It Up, talked to us about her new album, “Shake It Up: I <3 Dance”.   The album features the song, “This Is My Dance Floor” which is one of the much-played songs on Disney Channel.  I have to admit that it is very hard to stay seated when you hear this song.  At best, you will find yourself chair-dancing *blush*.  And your kids will be singing along and dancing, I promise!

In addition to Bella Thorne, “Shake It Up: I <3 Dance”, also features songs by her costar, Zendaya.  If you’re watching this season of Dancing With the Stars, you know Zendaya!  Disney stars Selena Gomez, Bridgit Mendler, Roshon Fegan and Caroline Sunshine, Coco Jones, the McClain Sisters and more are included, as well.

The Shake It Up: I <3 Dance soundtrack is currently available for $9.99 on both iTunes and Amazon.com.

When we talked to Bella, she told us that the recording sessions were light and fun.  The mood of the singer comes through in her voice and Bella said that they wanted to portray fun and excitement in the tracks.  Even though we had already heard most of the songs, we couldn’t wait to hear the album after talking to her!

As you probably know if you are a Disney channel fan, Bella is a brave advocate of children with dyslexia.  She herself struggles with reading because of this learning disability.  I told her that many of my readers were moms of children with dyslexia.  What would she like to tell them?  Instantly, her voice became very warm and caring.  I could hear the passion for the subject in her voice.  She encouraged moms to be patient and understand that it was just as frustrating for the kids as it is for teachers and parents.  Dealing with dyslexia is a process and a journey that takes a long, long time – there is no instant fix.

We knew that Bella is also a friend to pets, with dogs and cats of her own.  Rosie will be getting a pet soon (in May!), so she asked Bella if she would recommend a dog or a cat for Rosie.  Now that’s a tough question!  (We are hard-hitting interviewers *smile*)  Bella answered it with grace, very astutely asking Rosie which she thought was cuter and recommending that.
