DSM Disclosure #IC

What do you think of when you hear the word “December”?  Christmas instantly jumps to mind for me.  Snowy days and cold weather are also associated with the month of December for this Chicago girl.  Christmas music is one of my favorite things about the holiday season, so when I hear “December”, I think of all the fun carols.  And, of course, Santa Claus!

Christmas Trees

December is more than just the holiday season.  It’s sadly also a month of increased heart attack risk.  Did you know there are more than 80 million Americans living with heart disease?  When Mrs. Claus heard this, she decided that she and Santa needed to set a better example.  No more milk and cookies – they are making a healthy grocery list and checking it twice, of course.  Her mission is to ensure that her family has the omega-3s, vitamins D and E that they need.  We all need these to live a healthier, longer life.

I’ve already gained weight in the past month and it’s only going to get more difficult with all the Christmas cookies and treats this month.  We eat out more often, go to parties with yummy seasonal dishes and the temptation is strong.  With winter weather, I’m less likely to be out running, as well.

Would you like to learn more?  On ClausNutrition.com, Mrs. Claus will track the progress made by Santa, as well as share tips from experts in nutrition and heart health.

Let’s join Mrs. Claus!  Instead of leaving fruits and veggies for the reindeer and cookies for Santa, let’s leave BOTH of them healthier choices this holiday season and beyond into the new year.  And as always, if you don’t get enough nutrition from your diet, ask your doctor about adding supplements like fish oil and multivitamins for heart health.  I don’t always get enough omega-3s and so I supplement my diet with a fish oil supplement.
