Looking To Get Away For A Weekend? Castaway Bay and @CedarPoint #Halloweekends Are Spooky Good!

We are trying to ease into this school-year thing.  Trying to ease into summer’s-over-but-I-don’t-want-it-to-be…  A weekend at Cedar Point gave our family the perfect getaway!  Cedar Point, in Sandusky, Ohio is celebrating Halloween in a BIG way.  The fall/Halloween decorations were outstanding.

We stayed at Castaway Bay, which is a Cedar Point property but it is a very short drive away from the park.  We chose it because it has an indoor waterpark and Rosie loves to swim!  It also seemed like a perfect way to transition since we are missing summer days.  Our room was very comfortable – a nice size and everything felt new and clean.

In addition to the standard coffee pot, hair dryer, iron, ironing board… there is a refrigerator and microwave in the room!  Families across America say “thank you” to hotels that include a refrigerator and a microwave.  Traveling with children can be crazy expensive, but if you can make your own snacks and/or breakfast, it saves so much money.  And if you have a child with allergies or refrigerated medicine, it’s a necessity.

The water park was clean, warm, and BIG fun!  The wave pool was our favorite, but Rosie loved the “Critter Cove” too.  She’s not into tube slides, so we didn’t try those but in a few years…  we’ll be slidin’!

Have you heard of #Halloweekends?  Cedar Point transforms the park with imaginative, stunning Halloween decorations!  Rosie was entranced by all the pumpkins, skeletons, ghosts, and more.  Here’s just a sampling!

Cedar Point is the Roller Coaster Capital of the world!!  There are rides for everyone from the bravest to ahem, the cautious (us).

And no Kelly’s Lucky You post is complete with something about food!  This perfect fall treat was delicious!

One of my favorite things about food at Cedar Point is that they have franchise restaurtants!

• Skeleton Crew— An exciting spectacle of acrobatics and aerial acts taking place throughout the day in Cedar Point’s new Celebration Plaza!
• The Goodtime Ghouls: A Halloween Hullabaloo— An energetic musical revue featuring a mix of rockabilly, swing, pop and disco in the Good Time Theater.
• Gypsy Fortune Tellers— Find out what’s in the cards for you as you venture into Frontiertown.
• Charlie Brown’s Funtime Frolics— Join Charlie, Snoopy and the PEANUTS gang for music, stories and spooky surprises.
• The Magical House on Boo Hill— Whimsical illusions await at every corner in the topsy-turvy house just outside the Blue Streak roller coaster.
• Monster Midway Invasion Celebration— Friendly monsters and characters take over the Cedar Point Main Midway with dancing, parade floats and music every day at 4 p.m.
• PEANUTSâ„¢ Halloween Show and Kids’ Costume Contest— Bring your little pirates and princesses for pre-school competitions at 2 p.m. and grade-school competitions at 2:45 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in the Blue Streak Plaza.
• Sideshow: A Carnival of Magic— Step right up for amazing illusions and jaw-dropping suspense!
