“The Heart of Haiti collection is an array of handmade products for the home — quilts, metalwork, ceramics, and paintings — created by Haitian artisans. Each item is designed by a Haitian master artisan and produced by hand in Haiti from recycled materials.”

Macy’s is reaching out to help the people of Haiti in a unique and interesting way. Instead of giving one time funding, the Macy’s program Heart of Haiti is creating opportunities for artisans in Haiti to create and sell their products. This not only will create social change but will do it with dignity for the people it helps. By creating jobs for these artisans, they will be able to change the lives of their families and communities. They will be able to afford the food, clothing, homes, nutrition, education and healthcare that they need so desperately.

Facts about The Heart of Haiti Collection:

  • It has already led to the employment of 350 artists in Haiti and has provided some financial benefits for an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 people in the country.
  • Each product is made from recycled materials
  • The collection includes 40 different home decor items and accessories, including vases, candle holders, serving trays, picture frames, mirrors, coasters, necklaces and clutch purses falling in the $25 to $60 range.
