Janet Evanovich fans will love this movie! Â You know who you are! Â Are you #TeamRanger or #TeamMorelli?
One for the Money is the screen adaptation of the first in the popular series of books telling the story of Stephanie Plum. Â A girl from the Jersey neighborhood, out of work, who stumbles into the job of Bounty Hunter. Â Are you laughing yet? Â If not, you will when you see this movie!
The language and sex from the book are tuned down to get a PG-13 rating. Â It does make the movie easier to watch with your mom – which is what I did. Â Four friends and two moms, this is a fun movie to see with family and friends. Â But bring tissue, not because you’ll cry from sadness. Â No, you need tissue because you’ll be drooling over Ranger and Morelli. Â Great casting, the role of Ranger is played by Daniel Sunjata (one of People Magazine’s Most Beautiful People). Â I love watching him in the role of Eli on Grey’s Anatomy. Â Morelli is played by equally hot, Jason O’Mara who also guest starred on Grey’s. Â Add leading star Katherine Hiegl and it’s a Grey’s reunion. Â Well, they weren’t all on together, but anyway… back to One for the Money.
There was a stand-out performance by Sherri Shepherd, our girl from The View. Â Who knew she could act so well? Â She plays Lula, a hooker that helps Stephanie find her bail-skippers and murderers.
Debbie Reynolds plays Stephanie’s grandmother, who is the funniest character in the book. Â She was also toned down in the movie and didn’t quite have the same “punch” as she did in the book. Â Not because of Reynolds acting – she was marvelous – but I think because she had a smaller part in the movie. Â More grandma for the next one!
Speaking of “next one”… Â Evanovich has written eighteen books in this series. Â Yup, eighteen. Â Sounds like perfect material for a tv series. Â *Hint* *Hint*
Goodness, I love Katherine Heigel. She is SO funny!! Can’t WAIT to see this. I’m glad it is toned down to a PG-13. I don’t care for R rated movies.
This movie looks cute. A movie for me and the hubby to watch. Great review too.
Looks like a funny movie! I love Debbie Reynolds! Thanks for the review.
Before reading this review, I was pretty much unfamiliar with this movie. I will definitely be renting this one!
I have read all of the Stephanie Plum books and they are so funny that you are laughing your way through the book. My husband love the books too. we have been waiting for the movie to come out.
