Laurie Berkner is one of our family’s favorite musicians.  We have almost all her songs loaded onto our iPods, iPhones and CDs in our car.  This summer, the Best of Laurie Berkner, was my “go-to” music when we had other kids over for play dates.  Her music is fun for children and adults alike.  Some children’s music tends to unpleasantly get stuck in our heads, but not Laurie Berkner.  Her music is melodic but still fun for kids.

Laurie Berkner is releasing her first-ever Christmas album on October 30th!  I’m so excited.  We love Christmas music and are suckers for new albums of Christmas songs.  This one has traditional favorites that we all know and love and three original tracks, celebrating the holidays as only Laurie Berkner can!  Laurie is joined by bandmates Susie Lampert (keyboards), Adam Bernstein (bass) and Bob Golden (drums, percussion) as well as other talented musicians including recording artists Brady Rymer and Elizabeth Mitchell.

Are you ready for the holidays?  What do you do first?  Decorations?  Lights?  Tree?

“Now that I have my own family, we sing carols together every year.  While there are many holidays that we celebrate, I still get a little thrill when I see the lights go up and we sing our first Christmas song of the season together.” says Laurie.

In the heat of summer, we were travelling to Cedar Point and I popped the CD in to the car player.  My daughter said, “Mommy, would you pause the movie, I want to hear!”  She started clapping during, “Candy Cane Jane” and we all equally enjoyed the music.  Silly fun to listen to Christmas songs in the warm weather.

“Some fans bring lighters to concerts… At Laurie Berkner concerts, her fans bring stuffed animals and put them on their heads.  Families pack her concerts.”……  The New York Times

“Her music is distinctive because it speaks to kids without talking down to them, charming youngsters without boring grown ups.”….. The Wall St. Journal
