It’s back-to-school! Â My daughter’s school has a program called Character Counts. Â I love hearing about what they learn. Â One of the things they talk about is “filling someone’s bucket”. Â When you say something good or nice to someone you add to their bucket. Â When you say something hurtful or mean, you remove. Â It so important to learn kindness and it’s just as important as math and science!
As you know, we are huge Netflix fans and this month, they sent me ideas about shows and movies that promote kindness and acceptance. Â Try watching them with your children this month and then ask questions like these:
Who was your favorite character?
If you could ask your favorite character one question, what would it be?
Who was the character that is most like you? Â How are you similar?
Which character is most different from you? Â How are they different?
What challenges did the main character face in the movie?
How did the main character deal with adversity?
What did you learn from the movie?
Do you want more popcorn?
