I’ve never felt comfortable hailing a cab. Â First, I can’t ever remember if the light on means they are available, or not available. Â It seems awkward to wave my arm in the air. Â I can’t whistle. Â Middle of the block? Â Corner? Â I never know where to stand. Â And the worst? Yes, people have walked right smack in front of me and stolen, yes, stolen, grrrrrr, my cab. Â In the rain. Â What’s a girl to do?
Well the days of awkward arm waving, hailing already-occupied cabs, and having cabs stolen right out from under me are over. Â So over. Â I recently went to downtown Chicago with a friend and we took a cab to lunch. Â I used the new service, Curb, to call a cab to take us from Navy Pier to the Hancock Building. Â It was easy-peasey! Â I had downloaded the Curb app on my phone before I left home, so I would be ready. Â At Navy Pier, it took just a few taps on the app and a few minutes later, our cab appeared. Â The driver knew he was picking up a Curb call, and I knew the name and number of the cab – no one was stealing my cab *big-happy-grin*.
It didn’t apply on this trip, but I’ve also been in places where it was hard to find a cab. Â I would have to ask a restaurant host or a hotel desk to call me a cab. Â No more! Â Not with Curb. Â Now wherever I am, the Curb app will take care of it for me. Â Have you ever asked someone to call you a cab and waited and waited? Â You keep wondering if perhaps they forgot, but hate to nag a busy person. Â It’s awkward. Â No more! Â Here comes my *big-happy-grin* again.
Okay, one more problem that happens to me with taking a cab that is solved by Curb. Â I don’t carry a lot of cash. Â I know, I know, shame on me. Â But I rely on credit cards. Â I am all about the plastic. Â You can always pay a Curb fare with a credit card. Â I have to admit, I’m not sure with all cabs in Chicago, if they all accept credit cards or not, but with Curb, I don’t have to worry or remember to ask. Â And I was emailed a receipt – great for recordkeeping purposes! One more *big-happy-grin*.
Oops, I forgot… one more reason to love Curb! Â Chicago weather. Â Yup, you know what I’m talkin’ about. Â It’s raining, it’s snowing, it’s windy, it’s cold, it’s hot. Â With Curb, you see exactly where your ride is and how close to arriving it is. Â That means you can wait inside where it’s temperature controlled and dry until your ride is ready to pick you up. Â Oh, that definitely deserves a *big-happy-grin”.
Don’t live in Chicago? Â Curb connects riders to a nationwide network of over 35,000 taxis and 6,500 for-hire vehicles across 60 cities, and is adding more drivers and travel providers daily. Â Curb only works with licensed, regulated and commercially-insured drivers and providers in good standing with local regulatory authorities.
