Anytime my daughter and I can take an ordinary chore and make it special, we do. Sometimes an activity that would otherwise be mundane, can be changed into an emotionally touching event. It happened to us today. Rosie had a bit of a difficult day at school and I decided to surprise her with a treat. Little did I know I would be caring for my own heart at the same time. Here’s my recipe for an easy and fun “Spa Celebration” that we enjoyed with my mom.
Ingredients
1. A Goody Basket
 When I was stocking up on essentials at Sam’s Club, things like paper towels, I varied from my usual routine and looked for some purchases that would be fun for Rosie. I wanted something that would make our manicure chore more exciting. All professional manicures include a hand massage with a rich, luxuriant lotion. We wouldn’t be spending the money on a professional but we could still have our bit of luxury, thanks to Sam’s Club and NIVEA lotion. Love the #NIVEAMoments! Add some princess accessories and reading material for while polish dried, and voila!
 2. Delicious treats
I found these beautiful and delicious muffins at Sam’s Club – for a great price. A dozen for only $6.83!
3. Warm lighting, music and scent
Create a relaxing atmosphere with music, scent, and lighting. I used a warmer to put a sweet smell in the air, LED lights, candlelight and put the “Zen” music channel on TV.
4. Love
Our nails didn’t exactly look like we had a professional manicure, but we certainly look like they were done with love! It’s funny, I had a difficult path to becoming a mom and because of it, I treasure the little things that every mom experiences like having your daughter paint each of your nails a different color. Some strange looks will probably be thrown my way, but I’ll just smile, because my heart knows those funny nails are a sign of emotional healing and a child’s love.
