For the past weeks, I’ve been testing the Moto X phone from Motorola and Sprint and the fitbit flex wireless activity + sleep tracker. Â Here is my take on what I think is a perfect pairing for holiday gift giving! Â First, the Moto X!
Design
The feel of the phone is what impressed me most.  I didn’t know it until I started writing this post, but Motorola measured hundreds of hands before they finalized the shape of the Moto X.  No wonder it fits so well!  It’s curved, textured, and feels sturdy enough that you don’t need a case.  Think about it, why should you have to buy a case for your phone, right?
Screen and Resolution
The second thing that impressed me about the Moto X was the screen. Â It’s bigger than my old phone and the resolution is so clear and crisp. Â It surprises me what a big difference it makes to have a bigger screen. Â Just a bit bigger makes a huge difference. Â The phone itself doesn’t seem bigger, but it feels like the screen goes from edge to edge.
U.S.A.
A feel-good aspect of this phone is that the Moto X is the first smartphone to be designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A.  With all the people I know who are out of work, it’s a good feeling to know that Motorola is employing people here in the U.S.
Don’t Miss Another Photo
Have you ever seen something moving quickly that you wanted a picture of and you put in your code, hit the home button, scroll through the apps, touch the “camera” and put up your phone…? Â Only to find that it was going, going, gone! Â The Moto X has “Quick Capture” and goes to camera mode instantly when you twist your wrist twice. Â Ever miss a shot because you can’t find the little icon fast enough? Â On the Moto X, you touch the screen anywhere and take the picture – not missing a thing. Â Sweet!
“OK Google Now”
The Moto X learns your voice and unlike devices that “guess” is accurate in interpreting commands. Â I giggle every time I use the voice activated calling in our car. Â In contrast, the Moto X, awakens when I say “OK Google Now” and actually googles what I want to know. Â It’s called “Touchless Control”. Â One of the things you can do with this is to control what music is playing – saying “OK Google Now, play White Christmas”. Â Pair with a wireless speaker then go to town! Â Or in your car, when streaming the music through your phone you don’t have to be distracted while driving to change the song. Â Sweet! Â Sitting in a restaurant and want to know what the song is that’s playing? Â How many times have you opened your phone, gone to home screen, searched for Shazam app and opened, only to find that the song is over?! Â Combined with Shazam, you can just say “OK Google Now, what song is this?” and Voila, Shazam!
Hot Spot
I fell in love with having a mobile hot spot when I tried the Zing! so I was excited to see that the Moto X will function as a hot spot for up to 8 devices. Â You can “tether”, log in to the internet from your tablet through your phone.
More features:
Auto Complete -Â The Auto Complete function is awesome on the Moto X. Â When I’m emailing a screenshot to myself it gives me the word choices and they are very intuitive, giving me three options. Â Love it! Â Also note the look of the email….
Corporate Outlook -Â I also love the look of the email. Â The Corporate Outlook email manager is easy to use and very user-friendly.
Active Display – means when your phone is “Off” you aren’t out-of-touch. Â Depending on settings it will still notify you of important updates.
World Phone – Quadband GSM (850/900/1800/1900)Tri Band UMTS (850/1900/2100)DC HSPA+  Yes, that was a cut-and-paste and I have not tested this (but I’d love to *wink*).

fitbit flex
Now, the fitbit flex and then how it works beautifully together with the Moto X!
I’ve been wearing the fitbit flex for over two weeks now and it is:
- Comfortable
- Motivating
- Attractive-looking
- Long-battery life
It tracks the number of steps and miles traveled, as well as calories burned. Â There is an impressive food journal option as well that you can use to track the calories consumed. Â I’ve also used the alarm and found it to come in very handy. Â You can also log your sleep and your water consumption. Â Great for anyone who is trying to improve their health, lose weight, or just monitor their health. Â As a former accountant, I love the graphs and record-keeping. Â You can put in how much weight you want to lose, what your target date is and it will calculate how many calories you can eat each day. Â Tons of options and information! Â You can also log your blood sugar and blood pressure.
How the Moto X and fitbit flex Work Together
All the logging features of the fitbit can be done easily and quickly on the Moto X Fit with the fitbit App. Â When you eat lunch, you can quickly and easily go to the fitbit app and record your meal (search for restaurant, frozen meals, or common foods adjusting the quantity or record custom foods). Â You can log when you go to sleep, wake up and take naps (if you are lucky!). Â There are pedometers to track your steps, running apps to track your activity, calorie counters, weight loss planners… Â fitbit flex and Moto X put it all together so that you can track every aspect of your health.
If you are looking for a gift for someone special or for yourself, the Moto X and fitbit flex are a great pair!

Disclosure of Material Connection:  I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Sprint. I received product samples to facilitate my review.
This would make a great gift for me! I like how easy it seems to use. Right now, I record what I eat and how much exercise I get in a notebook, which I don’t always have with me. This is so much more convenient – and advanced. Thanks for the review.
