Picks and Pans on the Red Carpet – 2011 Oscars Fashion

I loved watching the Red Carpet Fashion at the 2011 Oscars! Here are some of the most memorable Oscar fashions that I saw.

Halle Berry is just stunning! This is a Marchesa gown and is the perfect blend of old-Hollywood glam and the trendy tulle touches of modern designers.

Gwyneth Paltrow looked amazing in Calvin Klein. This would have been my favorite but it was a bit too simple for Hollywood's biggest night. But gorgeous!

Amy Adams was stunning in this sapphire colored gown by L'Wren Scott. She was wearing $1.35 million in Cartier jewels, but oddldly enough, that's what I didn't like about her look.

One of my favorites of the night! Young Hailee Steinfeld was perfect in a dream-come-true, soft pink dress. Perfect for the Oscars, perfect for her age, perfect hair and makeup!

Lovely Ladies in Red - Penelope Cruz, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence

Always wild - Helena Bonham Carter wearing a Union Jack garter

Jennifer Hudson showed off her new and stunning body in this Tangerine gown from Versace. I think it could have been better fitted.

Pretty and Pregnant in Purple - Natalie Portman

Melissa Leo won an Oscar for her performance in The Fighter, but this dress for me was not a winner. Reminiscent of a tablecloth or an Elvis jumpsuit... just not a hit for me!

Mixed reviews for Cate Blanchett's Givenchy gown, called a work of art, but do you like it?

Mixed reviews, as well, for Nicole Kidman's Dior dress. And one of the funniest tweets of the night, "Too bad the table runner got stuck on her dress."

Funniest acceptance speech comments,

” I should have lost that 20 lbs!”  another “I should have gotten a hair cut!”

(And they were both right)

Funniest tweets,

"@Megamuff: Whoa! The Six Flags guy is on the Red Carpet!?! Oh wait, it's just Geoffrey Rush. Never mind. #oscars"

RT @Kiss108FM: #KissOscars Marisa Tomei: The Prom called and wants it's dress back!

RT @Kiss108FM: Oprah should host the Academy Awards to make it shorter. "Look under your seats. YOU get an Oscar! YOU get an Oscar! YOU get an Oscar!"

*Note, this picture of Oprah is from the Favorites Things show, not the Oscars.

"@Lord_Voldemort7: It appears that Sharon Stone killed the Black Swan & is wearing it to the Oscars Cruella Deville style."

I have to say that I agree with 90% of your comments, but hated Gwenyth Paltrow’s gown… she looked way too pale and it lacked something for me… didn’t watch the red carpet or the oscars – no tv here, but reading your post was fun, and it’s now been stumbled again :)

I too hated Cate Blanchett’s either. Maybe it looked better in person than it did on tv.

I watched while I was on Twitter and had so much fun reading tweets about what the stars were wearing. Cate Blanchett’s dress had the funniest tweets and was one of the worst dressed for me.

  19. 19

Thanks for stumbling me. I think Gwenneth Paltrow’s dress is my favorite. Very chic and classic with a modern touch.

I watched bits and pieces of the Oscars but followed more along on twitter. I think Natalie Portman deserves props for wearing those heels and Hailee Steinfeld did a great job with her dress choice.

  23. 23

Good post … lots of great pics and funny cutlines!

Thanks for stopping by Reading with Joey and for sharing some of your family history as well. What a small world, huh. (BTW, I am also having a late-stumble kinda week myself).

You’ve got a new follower here, for sure!

I missed the awards, but Gwyneth looks amazing (as usual).

HAHAHAHAHA! I’m a fashionista by NO means, but even I question a few of these choices. Is Melissa Leo hiding football gear under those shoulder pads? Awesome.
