Premiere of Trailer for the Upcoming Movie: Lincoln – Stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Directed by Steven Spielberg

Daniel Day-Lewis plays the title role of Lincoln and also starring the film are Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field!  What a cast!  An amazing story, an iconic director, great actors?  This is going to be a must-see film of the year.

This trailer (below) for the upcoming movie, “Lincoln”, came out yesterday.  I can’t wait for this movie!  Even the premiere of the trailer was special.  It was done online in a Google hangout with director Steven Spielberg and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt that was broadcast on the huge screen in Times Square.

In the Google hangout, Mr. Spielberg spoke of the movie, introducing the trailer by saying, what you are about to see in trailer form, is only an offering of the tone of the film.  The movie is really about the content of Lincoln’s life.  He wanted to show Lincoln as a man.  We all know Lincoln in stills, in snapshots, in statues.  In this movie, we see what it’s like to be Lincoln, what it would have been like to be members of his family – his wife, his children.  To do this, rather than show the breadth of Lincoln’s presidency and all of his historical accomplishments, the movie focuses in on the last four months of his life.  Actor, Joseph Gordon-Levitt , who plays Lincoln’s son, spoke of the nuance and complications presented in the film.  Lincoln’s choices and family life were anything but simple.  Instead of the facts of Lincoln’s life, we the audience, will see the man and the father.
