“Cinderella” is synonymous with “magic” in our house.  From the first time I walked down Main Street as a child and got a look at the Cinderella Castle, I knew what “magic” meant.  One of my favorite memories of all times is my daughter’s face when she had that same moment and the joy on her face.

The story of Cinderella, the movie, the dress!  Disney’s animated movie, Cinderella, is a classic in family entertainment and a must-have for every DVD collection.  Even though we already had the DVD, I was excited to get the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray version released October 2nd.  We picked up the Blu-Ray/DVD Gift Set – an exclusive at Walmart that comes with a tin bank shaped like the carriage!  If you haven’t seen Cinderella recently, I encourage you to plan a family movie night soon!  You will be surprised and delighted.  It is funnier, sweeter, and better than I remembered (and the bar was set pretty high in my memory!).  Between the car and at home, Rosie has watched it umpteen times since we bought it and I haven’t minded one bit *goofy smile*.

I have pictures of Rosie in Cinderella costumes at just about every age.  More pictures of Rosie with Cinderella at Walt Disney World.  And pictures of Rosie in a Cinderella costume, with Cinderella.  Yes, you might say we are fans!  When I heard about an event at Walmart to celebrate the release of the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray, of course, I was excited!  I bought Rosie a new Cinderella costume at Walmart and the Gift Set Blu-Ray to surprise her and tell her we were going.  She was delighted – it was so fun!

Before we went, we also downloaded a free app for my iPhone called Disney Princess Augmented Reality.  Rosie loves augmented reality – the 3D figures pop out when you hold your phone up to a “trigger point”.  Rosie borrows my phone so much that I’m thinking of getting her an iPod Touch or an iPhone for her birthday – almost more as a gift to me, than her!  I’ll get exclusive use of my phone once again.  The Disney Princess Augmented Reality app starts with an “Invitation to the Royal Ball”!  Then you can to go to the “Princess Boutique” for a ball gown, the “Carriage Shop” for a carriage, and finally to the Royal Palace.  Each location ends with a photo opp – putting you in the picture!

After playing with the Disney Princess Augmented Reality app and dressed in her Cinderella-finest, Rosie and I headed to the event at our local Walmart.  It was very festive and a lovely woman staffing the event truly made my daughter feel like a princess.  Cake always makes a celebration more fun, doesn’t it?

There were coloring sheets and stickers – always top on any kids list!  Wait, toys top that, and there were tons of Cinderella themed toys to see.

Cinderella will always be one of our favorite stories, movies and princesses.  Share the magic!  Gotta pumpkin?  Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!
