THE AFTER-SCHOOL PLAYDATE
A play in one act
CAST OF CHARACTERS
MOM: Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A woman trying to do her best.
CHILDREN 1-5: Â Â Â Â Â Five children of various ages.
ACT I, SCENE I
SETTING:  Once upon a time, mom arranged a playdate for her daughter with five other children for after-school.  These particular children had the after-school HUNGRYS!  In fact, you might say that after school, if the children didn’t get enough (and by enough, I mean tons) of food they turned into HUNGRY MONSTERS – grrrrrr!  But, why was this a problem?  Just give them cupcakes and pie and ice cream and candy.  Uh oh, then you send them home to their moms and now you have UNHAPPY MOMS!  What to do, what to do….
Trumpets blaring, enter Sir Bananasâ„¢:
SIR BANANASâ„¢: Â “I will save the day! Â Bananas make everything betterâ„¢. Â With Sir Bananasâ„¢ Bananamilk you can make a delicious snack that kids will love. You will be giving them a healthier choice that their Moms will thank you for. Â With eight essential nutrients including protein and calcium and no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners, go ahead and go bananas. Â Kids smile and so do moms!”
ENDING CREDITS: Â And they all lived happily ever after. Â This play was based on a true story.
It’s a constant struggle for Moms – finding something that their kids will love AND we will feel good about feeding them.  It’s all about finding that balance.  Then throw in the complication of providing variety, as well.  No one, and especially kids, want to eat the same thing over and over.  You need to change it up.  In my opinion that’s one of the key benefits of Sir Bananasâ„¢ Bananamilk.  You can use it in so many ways, from simply pouring it into a glass and serving it as a beverage, to using it in your favorite recipe.  Just think of all the options… smoothies, pancakes, waffles, muffins, dips.  It’s limitless.
For our real-life after school playdate, I decided to make Banana Pecan Waffles. Â It was a good choice, that the kids thought they were fun AND yummy. Â Their Moms were happy to have calm kids returned to them at the end of the day. Â I’m guessing from previous “fail” playdates that Moms may have been furiously brushing teeth and pulling crazed kids off the ceiling when they got home. Â All while shaking their heads and saying, “You’ll never go to that house again.”
Here’s the recipe, it’s a winner!
