ABOUT THE BOOK:

(from the back cover) “Born Under a Lucky Moon is the tale of two very important (but distant) years in the lives of Jeannie Thompson and her (embarrassing, crazy) colorful family members to whom “things” just seem to happen.  From the Great Lakes of Michigan to Los Angeles and back again, it is the story of surprise marriages, a renegade granny, a sprinkler system cursed by the gods, and myriad other factors Jeannie blames for her full-tilt, out-of-control existence.  But it’s also about good surprises – like an unexpected proposal that might open Jeannie’s eyes to her real place among the people she loves most in the world…. the same ones she ran away from to begin with.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

This is a first novel by Dana Precious and I’m hoping it won’t be the last!  Dana grew up in Michigan, attending Michigan State University.  After graduation with a degree in graphic design, she headed to California.  She worked as a Hollywood publicist for several studios.  With her husband and preschool son, Dana still lives in Los Angeles.
MY TAKE ON THE BOOK:

Have you read any books by Susan Elizabeth Phillips or Janet Evanovich?  This book reminds me of both – it has the sense of fun I find in Susan Elizabeth Phillips books and the outrageous family comedy of Janet Evanovich.  You will laugh out loud and maybe shed a tear or two.  Definitely, there will be a warm-hearted, “aw”.
Written in a casual, easy-to-read style, you feel like you are having breakfast with an old, funny, friend who just tells the BEST stories!
The title of the book comes from Dana’s mom, who always says Dana was “born under a lucky moon”.  Now we are all lucky – Dana is sharing her stories of family and an outrageous Hollywood with us!  I read that the movie rights have already been purchased – this will make a great comedy.

WHAT OTHER’S ARE SAYING:

“Lucky the reader who picks up this funny, charming, and touching debut novel.  I loved it.” – Susan Elizabeth Phillips, NY Times bestselling author

I read that this book was largely based on real life events in my life. The story that takes place in 1986 is pretty true to the author’s real life. Nice that her husband shot that video – he’s close by her side.

The novel is based on true events from the author’s life.
