Evidence of Life

“On the last ordinary day of her life, Abby Bennett feels like the luckiest woman alive. But everyone knows that luck doesn’t last forever…

As her husband, Nick, and daughter, Lindsey, embark on a weekend camping trip to the Texas Hill Country, Abby looks forward to having some quiet time to herself. She braids Lindsey’s hair, reminds Nick to drive safely and kisses them both goodbye. For a brief moment Abby thinks she has it all — a perfect marriage, a perfect life — until a devastating storm rips through the region, and her family vanishes without a trace.

When Nick and Lindsey are presumed dead, lost in the raging waters, Abby refuses to give up hope. Consumed by grief and clinging to her belief that her family is still alive, she sets out to find them. But as disturbing clues begin to surface, Abby realises that the truth may be far more sinister than she imagined. Soon she finds herself caught in a current of lies that threaten to unhinge her and challenge everything she once believed about her life.”

About the Author

“At the heart of every crime, there’s a family…. That fact is what drives my fiction. It’s issue oriented, threaded with elements of suspense and defined by its particular emphasis on how crime effects families, the victim’s family, the perpetrator’s family.”

Barbara Taylor Sissel learned as a very young child to carry her joy with her and to love reading.  Her family moved frequently, beginning with her birth in Hawaii, she grew up in the Midwest.  Now she is living in Texas.  She as been a ballerina, a flight attendant, and a dental assistant!  Now that is variety.  Now, she is living her dream – a full time writer.

My Take

I loved reading this book.  There were twists and turns that I never saw coming.  I starting reading it as soon as it came in the mail and couldn’t put it down until I found out what was going on!  Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if someone close to you disappeared?  I’ve seen the interviews of people on television and just can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like.  As the main character in this book goes through the horrible stages of dealing with the tragedy, she also learns things she never knew about her husband.  Author, Barbara Taylor Sissel, makes it all believable and pulls you through the story along with the characters.
