ABOUT THE BOOK:

Author, Stacy Morrison, was a magazine editor for twenty years including six years as the editor in chief of Redbook magazine.  “Falling Apart in One Piece” is the personal memoir of her struggle to find out who she is, amid becoming a first-time mom, getting her dream job at Redbook, and her husband leaving her.

What do you do when your husband of ten years suddenly says, “I’m Done”?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Stacy Morrison lives in Brooklyn with her 7 year old son, Zack.  She appears regularly on the Today show and is sought after as an expert on issues facing women today.  As a commentator on relationships, motherhood, marriage and money, Stacy shares her unfailing optimism and emotional analysis.

MY TAKE ON THE BOOK:

Although the subtitle of this book is, “one optimist’s journey through the hell of divorce”, I found the book to be just as interesting as a chronical ta successful business woman’s journey trying to balance marriage, motherhood, and work.  Yes, the end result is the dissolution of her marriage, but that was her husband’s choice.  And the emotions, steps, and ultimate recovery can be extended to any personal struggle.
Imagine that you run into your best friend from college that you’ve lost touch with for a few years.  Sitting down over a cup of coffee, she tells you the story of what’s been happening in her life.  The two of you used to share everything – from your favorite sweaters to tears over break-ups with boyfriends.  That’s what you will feel like reading, “Falling Apart in One Piece”.  Stacy Morrison tells you what was in her life and in her heart.  It is a very personal and thoughtful account.  Somehow she shares her sorrow, anger, and frustration without rancor or bitterness.  With all the figurative and literal floods in her life, she maintains her positive nature.
What Other’s Are Saying:

“I loved the tone of this honest, thoughtful memoir: heartbreaking and real, without the slightest hint of self-pity.” – Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love
