I am excited to announce that I’m an Ambassador for Discover Boating!
I’ve always lived near the beach and boating has always been a part of my life (I know, lucky me, right?!). There is nothing like the feeling of the sun, spray, and excitement of being on a boat. Whether fishing or just enjoying a summer day, boating equals summer for me. I will always associate the sound of the ropes hitting the masts of boats with summer time. The feeling of warm sun on my skin… the feeling of life, of being alive, is so strong when boating. I remember sitting for hours in a boat, fishing with my Dad. We always joked, “That’s why it’s called ‘fishing’. If it didn’t take hours, it would be called ‘catching’.” But what better way to relax, slow down the pace of life, and enjoy nature, than in a boat.
I started my summer off with a bang, the biggest boating adventure I’ve ever had. Our family just returned from a cruise to Alaska! A little bit bigger boat than I’m used to, hehehe. My husband got to spend his Father’s Day on a ship! It doesn’t get any better than that. Whether you are in a cruise ship, or a kayak, you get a real appreciation for nature and the scale of the outdoors when you are boating. This afternoon, we were on a ferry boat in Vancouver Canada. Here’s my husband and I enjoying the beautiful summer day!
One of the activities I want to do with my daughter this summer is to go out on a chartered boat to fish for coho salmon. It is so exciting to catch one of these huge, huge fish. The benefits for children are getting outdoors; appreciating nature; spending quality time with family; and we both need to disconnect from technology.
Did you know that Of the 241.9 million adults in the US in 2013, 36.6%, or 88.5 million, participated in recreational boating at least once during 2013 – one of the highest percentages on record? There’s a reason so many people love it. I even like hanging around a harbor. The people are so relaxed, laid back, and truly know how to enjoy life! If you are thinking about joining those 88.5 million of us who love boating, a great place to start is DiscoverBoating.com. It is an unbiased, online resource for the novice to the experienced boater. Whether you are looking to buy your own boat, rent, charter, or head off to a boating destination. There are resources at DiscoverBoating.com to help you.
DiscoverBoating.com offers a boat selector guide, cost comparison tool, renting options, favorite boating destinations, links to education courses – even nautical lingo and how-to videos.
