Are you ready for some football?
It’s TAILGATE TIME!
Our family loves football – from Friday night high school games to the pros on Sunday. Â Fall weekends are filled with football. Â And what is football without tailgating parties, right? Â Whether you in the stadium lot or home watching on the big screen football is a great reason to gather friends and enjoy some delicious food. Â Join me for a tailgate party!
The Quarterback Recipe – Beef Kabobs
Don’t fumble! Â Make your tailgating food finger-friendly. Â Beef kabobs are a great way to serve everyone’s favorites on a stick. Â Your friends will enjoy munching on delicious beef and veggies without having to lift a fork.
Ingredients
Makes 12 kabobs
Walmart Beef Sirloin Cut – 2 pounds
Beef Marinade*
2Â large green peppers
2 small yellow onions
12 button mushrooms
24 cherry tomatoes
Supplies: Â Grill, Kingsford Charcoal, Skewers
Directions
Marinate your beef the night before, then assemble kabobs the morning of the game. Â Be sure to soak your skewers in water for at least 10 minutes before putting together your kabobs, so when you put them on the grill they won’t burn. Â Place kabobs on a hot grill and cook for 4-5 minutes, turning each minute.
Here’s the play-by-play preparation!
First Down – Shop. Â Walmart is your one-stop shopping destination for all your tailgating needs. Â For the beef kabobs, Walmart Premium Beef, USDA Choice, 100% Money-Back Guaranteed Sirloin is the perfect choice.
And don’t forget my husband’s favorite for many, many years, Kingsford Charcoal. Â Kingsford Charcoal is dependable for the fast-lighting, even heat you need to create great-tasting barbecued food.
Second Down – Marinate. The day before the game, marinate your beef.  *I used these marinade ingredients:  1 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 1 cup soy sauce, 3/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, 3/4 cup lemon juice, 3 teaspoons garlic powder, 3 teaspoons black pepper.  Cut beef into 1-inch cubes, place in a ziploc bag.  Add marinade and shake.  Place in refrigerator for 4 – 24 hours.
Third Down – Assemble Kabobs.  Soak wood skewers for at least 10 minutes in cold water.  Tip:  Square skewers work best, the shape keeps items from twirling around the stick.  Wash tomatoes and mushrooms, cut onions and green peppers.  Alternate beef and vegetables on skewers.  Tip:  Place items very close together on the skewer, they will shrink as they cook.
Fourth Down – Grill Kabobs. Â Place kabobs on a hot grill, with your side dishes. Â Kabobs will cook fairly quickly, they only need four to five minutes. Â It’s important to turn them about each minute to cook on all sides.
The Sidelines – Potatoes, Grilled Corn, Snacks, and Dessert
Once again, you want to have finger-friendly food. Â Tailgating is all about socializing and experiencing the gameday excitement. Â You will be walking and talking, there’s no sitting at tables in football! Â I used clear, plastic cups to create individual servings of sides and snacks. Â It’s easy to do and fun to eat. Â Salad, veggies and dip, pretzels, chips and chex mix all fit perfectly into the cups.
Preparation is Separation! Â In football, it’s the best prepared team that separates the winners from the losers and the same is true for tailgating. Â You can pre-cook your corn and baked potatoes in the microwave and then just warm them up on the grill. Â To create fun grilled corn, I sliced the cobs into snack-size pieces that could be easily placed on the grill. Â Tip: Â Try a serrated knife to cut through the cobs. Â Mini-cupcakes and cake pops are perfect bite-sized desserts.
The WIN!
Add family and friends, then enjoy! Â We invited over our new neighbors and had a tailgate feast.

My son is going tailgating this Sunday at the Dolphin game. I am going to share this with him since he is the king of the grill.
Sounds like fun!
