Perfect for everyday, but more than that, tea has played a role in some of the special moments of my life.  Remember the character Eloise that lived in the Plaza Hotel in New York?  High tea at The Palm Court in The Plaza is a famous tradition.  When my mom and I took a trip to New York a few years ago, we were lucky enough to stay at the Plaza in the week before it’s renovation.  Afternoon tea was on our “must-do” list.  My daughter and I decided to have an old-fashioned Victorian tea party and invite grandma, to remember the tea at the Plaza and create a new memory and tradition!

We started by shopping at our local antique store.  The Victorian style of our tea party necessitated flowery tea cups and lace!  For most of my theme parties or posts, I take advantage of the bargains at thrift shops and antique stores.  We found some great pieces and had fun looking for them.

My tea box selection was getting low and my tea kettle wasn’t fit for picture taking, so I headed to Walmart.  I love the flavor choices of Bigelow tea, especially for my tea box.  For myself, but especially for guests, it’s handy to have a beautiful presentation of a selection of tea and Bigelow helps me fill it.

There are many tea brands to choose from, but I like to stock my tea box with Bigelow. They have an amazing variety of teas, the foil packets keep the tea fresh, and the packaging makes an attractive presentation – most of all – it’s delicious!

Did you know Bigelow Tea is a family-owned company?  The President is a third-generation Bigelow, Cindi.  I love that the company was started by a woman, Cindi’s grandmother.  I like to support companies that are run by women.  Especially fascinating to me was that Bigelow’s first and most famous tea, Constant Comment, is still blended by only CEO Cindi Bigelow’s parents!  They don their lab coats and go behind closed doors to create the secret recipe.  Wow!  I love Constant Comment and knowing that bit of back-story makes it taste even better.  Many of my favorite restaurants serve Bigelow tea, and I can’t wait to share that story the next time I have tea with a girlfriend!

Have you ever wondered if tea is safe for children to drink?  I did a bit of research and found a common opinion that tea without caffeine is the best for children.  Herb tea is the favorite choice.  It’s always best to check with your pediatrician, especially for toddlers.   Rosie is 7 years old and I feel very comfortable with her occasionally enjoying a cup of tea with mom and grandma!

Tea and memories…

I’m a big Keurig fan and I can enjoy my Bigelow tea in K-Cups!  If you’re never sure how long to steep your tea, K-Cups take out the guesswork.  Tea is delicious when made in a Keurig.  I found one kind of K-Cups at Walmart and you can find more varieties online.  I love the Vanilla Chai!

I have so many “tea party” memories!  One Christmas, my mom gave my daughter a pastel, pretty table and chair set and my cousin gave her a tea set.  Rosie played and giggled with those for many days to come.  What are your favorite tea-related memories?  Will you be making more?

I really enjoyed reading about your tea memories! I haven’t tried the the Bigelow K-Cups…but I’ll keep my eye out for them. I love our Keurig and usually when I made a cup of tea, I place my tea bag in my cup and heat the water in the Keurig, which of course dispenses right into my cup. It’s so easy that I don’t know if I’ll ever get another tea kettle!
