The great folks at Wet Ones (isn’t every mom grateful to Wet Ones?) sent me these tips for avoiding colds and flu this holiday season.  The holidays bring time with relatives, celebrations, shopping… and contact with more germs than usual.  It’s not the cheeriest thought to have, but it’s reality.  We are stressed, often miss sleep, and exposed to more germs during the holidays.  Here are ten quick tips on making your holidays healthier!

1.  This is number one on every list!  Wash your hands frequently.

2.  Wash your face.  We all know about hands, but it’s also helpful to wash your face more often as well.

3.  Don’t touch your face.  People touch their face hundreds of times a day!  Stop that :)

4.  Keep your immune system healthy by eating balanced meals with lots of fruits and veggies.

5.  Take extra care for 7 days after a cold or the flu to prevent the spread of infection.

6.  Pay attention to the health of your child’s friends and classmates.  Reschedule play dates if someone is contagious!

7.  Carry anti-bacterial products like wipes  in your purse.  Handy to clean little hands and surfaces where ever you are.

8.  Use hot water for germy laundry – only hot water kills germs.

9.  Get enough sleep!  Your body needs rest to recover from an illness and to keep your immune system strong.

10.  Clean your most-touched household surfaces with anti-bacterial wipes.
