We’ve all heard the Walgreen’s slogan “At the Corner of Happy and Healthy”. I’m happy because my Walgreen’s is saving me time – it has gone above and beyond “convenient” with their Photo App and Food Oasis.
I’ve been reminiscing about fun adventures in the last few years and one of them was when I attended a taping of the Oprah Show. I thought it would be fun to invite the friends who went with me to a, “hey, remember this” lunch! We had so much fun and I haven’t seen them in a while. I thought it would be cute to get pictures of our adventure to share over lunch. Hmmm, where did I put those? I tried to be organized and put my digital photos into files named by date. But, if I don’t remember the date of when I did something, I can’t find the pictures! *slapping forehead* Then I remember, oh wait, they are on Facebook. Saved by Facebook – and Walgreens!
Did you know you can order prints of the pictures on your Facebook page and have them waiting for you at your local Walgreens? Years ago, I thought I would print my photos at home. Ha! The ink is expensive, the paper is even more expensive, if it’s not calibrated perfectly they come out strange, you have to let them dry… All of that = hassle. Now, I just order and pick them up at Walgreens. The quality is much better than I could ever obtain and the cost is so low, I can’t imagine it’s much cheaper if any to do it myself.
If you’ve never used the Walgreens photo app, let me show you. It’s super, super easy. It took me nine minutes, but that’s only because I was picking them up at a new Walgreens I’d never been to before and had to look up the address. Otherwise, I’m guessing three minutes, tops. And I had an email that my pictures were ready to pickup only 23 minutes after submitting my order!
I choose the Walgreen’s in Calumet City, because that Walgreen’s has a Food Oasis. Have you heard of those? In conjunction with efforts by First Lady Michelle Obama and the Partnership for a Healthier America to fight the childhood obesity epidemic and provide better food options and accessible health care to under-served communities, Walgreens is adding fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and other healthy meal components to stores in under-served neighborhoods.
When I picked up my photos, I also picked up the ingredients I needed to make a delicious, healthy lunch!

That salad looks so delicious. I can’t believe you were able to make it with items purchased at a Walgreens store! I wish the Oasis stores would spread into more areas- love it!
