No guts, no glory.
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations that give us the opportunity to reach for glory. Â But it’s not earned easily, it’s going to mean we have to put ourselves on the line. Â It’s going to take courage – guts. Â As a volleyball player, I remember those moments… Â It’s game point, I’m in the “hitter” position. Â We serve, the other side returns, the back row bumps up the ball, the setter give me the perfect set. Â Do I just keep the game alive and take a safe return or do I go for the “kill” and the game? Â No guts, no glory. Â Go for it. Â Wham, killer hit. Â If you do it with skill and confidence, you’ve got the win and the glory! Â YES!
Chuck, in the WB hit series, is faced with his own “no guts, no glory” situation, but this time it’s not a game.  It’s a life and death situation!  But wait, I’ll catch you up on the story.  Chuck Bartowski (played by cutie, Zachary Levi) is working at Buy More as a Nerd Herder (think Best Buy Geek Squad).  His former roommate who is now a CIA spy has discovered the Intersect, merged database of the CIA and NSA.  When being chased, he emails the Intersect to Chuck who subliminally absorbs the database.  Fast forward to Season Four, Chuck is no longer the nerdy, Nerd Herder, he has now become a spy.  I love that his father is played by Scot Bakula (Quantum Leap, Star Trek) and his mother is played by Linda Hamilton (Terminator).  Who else could parent/sire this nerd-turned-spy?! Chuck’s whole world is threatened when his fiancée Sarah Walker is poisoned by Vivian Volkoff in the 24-episode fourth season of Chuck. In this episode Chuck scrambles to find the only antidote to the lethal “Norseman” device.  And Chuck is no longer stammering and hesitant – he has the guts to turn his back on the CIA, hop on a superspeed motorcycle and do what needs to be done.  No guts, no glory.
