Looking for something do with your children over the summer?  LeapFrog Summer Camp has some great ideas to help you out!  Week 3 of the LeapFrog Summer Camp was “Puzzle Week” and Rosie loved working the different types of puzzles.  (shhh, don’t tell her, but I did too!)

LeapFrog Summer Camp, from June 4-July 29, is designed to keep the learning going all summer long through exciting weekly themes and free, do-anywhere learning activities that explore geography, writing, science, art and more.

It’s easy and fun to do the activities!  Just go to the LeapFrog website and sign up.  It’s free!  Week 1 was called “Out and About” – we made a Passport to My Neighborhood and played games that taught map reading skills, map making skills and more.  Week 2 was called “Caring for Animals”.  Don’t all kids love animals?

I’m very concerned with “summer slide” – the loss of academic skills and knowledge kids experience over the summer break.  Studies show that “Summer Slide” is estimated to be equal to about 1 month, but this varies across subject matter:  Math – 2.6 months and Reading 1-2 months.  I posted some other tips on how to keep your kids sharp over the summer a few weeks ago, make sure to check out Tips to Avoid Summer Slide!

Next week is going to be “Art and Music” –

a theme we will especially love,

I hope you’ll join Rosie and me at the LeapFrog Summer Camp!

Looks like a really fun program, though I would expect no less from LeapFrog, they always have such great products. I agree that it’s so important to keep the “summer slide” from happening. Thanks for the great tips!
