My daughter Rosie’s kindergarten class is going to sponsor an owl! Â Our local DNR is participating in a banding program to identify the migratory patterns of the Saw Whet owl. Â The tiny owls come through our area every fall.
The Saw Whet Owl got it’s name from the sound that they make – a tooting whistling sound reminiscent of a saw being sharpened on a whetstone.  Like other owls, they are nocturnal and carnivorous, eating mice or chipmunks.
Aww, so super precious! That is an awesome program!
