Whooooo Is The Cutest Owl?

My daughter Rosie’s kindergarten class is going to sponsor an owl!  Our local DNR is participating in a banding program to identify the migratory patterns of the Saw Whet owl.  The tiny owls come through our area every fall.

 


The Saw Whet Owl got it’s name from the sound that they make – a tooting whistling sound reminiscent of a saw being sharpened on a whetstone.  Like other owls, they are nocturnal and carnivorous, eating mice or chipmunks.
